Around the Farm: June 26, 2014
It is easy to get caught up in recent events and become prisoners of the moment. Really, it just seems like human nature to overvalue the most recent thing to happen. Each year, it happens to a certain number of players: those with hot Aprils seem to have figured something out and those with cold ones seem to have taken a step back. By and large, however, these early season performances go back to normal, which is exactly what is happening with Ronny Rodriguez. Join Jim Piascik as he breaks down Rodriguez's season, Bobby Bradley's debut to date, and much more as he takes you Around the Farm.

Around the Farm: June 25, 2014
One bounce of the ball can be all it takes to change everything. Top prospect Francisco Lindor experienced this firsthand Wednesday as a routine double play grounder took a bad hop, bouncing up and hitting him in the face. Lindor seems to have avoided being struck in the eye, a potentially positive development, though he is still getting checked out. Join Jim Piascik as takes you Around the Farm, reporting from Canal Park and bringing you the rest of the action on a busy night in the system.

Offensive explosion leads Scrappers to 15-5 win in Auburn
The offense has been very quiet in the early stages of the 2014 season for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. After the first 4 innings on Sunday afternoon it appeared it would stay that way. But the Scrappers offense then exploded for 14 runs over the next 6 innings en route to a 15-5 win over the Auburn Doubledays.

When it comes to prospects, sometimes the divide between one who makes it and one who does not just comes down to health. Roberto Perez and LeVon Washington are both examples of this, as they are both in the midst of big years after injury-riddled 2013 seasons. Now that both are healthy, Perez and Washington are raking, as they did Saturday. Join Arthur Kinney as he writes about Perez and his future, Washington and his potential rise, and much more as he takes you Around the Farm.

Scrappers early runs not enough in loss to Batavia
For the second night in a row, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers grabbed an early lead in the top of the first inning. For the second night in a row, they were unable to capitalize on it as the Batavia Muckdogs had an answer every time the Scrappers crossed the plate, leading to a 10-6 setback for the Scrappers.

Scrappers strand 15 runners on base in loss to Batavia
Friday night’s game in Batavia, NY started out looking like it would be an easy walk in the park for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers as they loaded the bases and grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first inning. From there, the bats went quite with runners in scoring position as the Scrappers left 15 runners on base in a 7-4 loss to the Batavia Muckdogs.

Minor Happenings: Naquin, Lugo continue to shine
After a two week hiatus because of the insane amount of time spent on the draft there past two weeks here at the IBI, the Happenings are back! In today’s report, the IBI's Tony Lastoria takes a look at the season that outfielder Tyler Naquin has had and the significant adjustment he has made which has led to a major improvement in an area of greatest weakness. Around the Farm: June 19, 2014
The night after only the Akron RubberDucks were in action, the Cleveland system had seven games going on thanks to the combination of two doubleheaders and the end of the All-Star break for Carolina and Lake County. Two RubberDucks still headlined the night, however, with Will Roberts putting together his best start of the season and Francisco Lindor showing off some power. Join Jim Piascik as he breaks down the busy night in the system and takes you Around the Farm.

Mahoning Valley Scrappers split two against Auburn Doubeldays
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers split a double header with the Auburn Doubledays after Wednesday's game was postponed due to rain. The first game ended with a 2-0 Scrappers loss, but they turned it around to win, 3-0, in the second game. Jorge Martinez powers Mahoning Valley Scrappers to 10-inning win
I took an extra inning, but the Mahoning Valley Scrappers pulled through to beat the Jamestown Jammers, 2-1, Monday. Just four games into the year, both teams sport a .500 record after the contest. Scrapper Jorge Martinez powered the win with two solo home runs. The Scrappers were held to just four hits, but Martinez proved to be the difference they needed.

Six-run second inning does in Scrappers on the road
One inning can be everything in the game of baseball. The Mahoning Valley Scrappers found that out the hard way on Sunday afternoon in Jamestown, NY. The Scrappers surrendered six runs on five hits and were never able to recover, eventually falling to the Jamestown Jammers, 9-4.

Scrappers fall to Jammers in a pitcher’s duel, 4-1
What a difference one day can make in the game of baseball. One night after the Mahoning Valley Scrappers and Jamestown Jammers put on an offensive display when each pounded out 14 hits, the combine to record 14 hits on Saturday night in a 4-1 pitching dominated Jammers victory.

Offense propels Scrappers to Opening Day win, 10-9
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers did not leave their offense in Arizona when they ended extended spring training. That offense was on display early and often on Opening Night as the Scrappers batted around the order and jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning on their way to a 10-9 victory.

Determining Value
With another season here, the IBI's Tony Lastoria digs up an article which has been a site favorite for a few years. He talks about the decisions teams make with their prospects and the way they are handled which provides a good idea of how a team values each player in the organization. If you pay attention to how a player is used and how they are moved, you can get a good feel for their prospect value.
