2012 Draft Prospects
Re: 2012 Draft Prospects
I'd have taken Zunino 1.1. Really like Zunino.

Wow, wouldn't surprise me if Appel slides all the way to Pittsburgh.

Think Appel goes to SD, but the Cubs might decide fate is for once on their side.

The slide of Appel continues. I don't know how much "signability" can be an issue anymore with the new system.

Are they saying that Appel wants to go back to school?

Re: 2012 Draft Prospects
Rumor now is that Appel might slide to A's at 11. I wonder about his bonus demands. The further he slides, the harder it becomes for a team to take him given the limited budgets. He either has to lower those demands or maybe he won't sign at all.

Word is Fried according to Jim Callis. Dahl to Pirates. Not sure who the Marlins and Rockies are targeting. Hawkins to Miami has been a rumor.

Appel dropping isn't really pushing anyone else down to the Tribe. I don't think we'd take him.

I don't think so either. It might drop someone like Wacha to us though.

If Appel is there at 15 - I hope they take him.

Doubt the Rockies take Appel if he is there but could be wrong.

Less than $5M to spend on the first 10 rounds...may have to give 60% to just Appel there. He's good but I want more than him from this draft.

The Bucs swoop in and save Appels night.
Boy if he signs, put him with Gerrit Cole and Jamison Tallion, thats an interesting trio in time.

Might explain their "quick" decision to move Allie into the batters box and off the pitcher mound.

Re: 2012 Draft Prospects
ha, love MLB's coverage. Touting how the top 8 prospects went in the top 8, something the new system is trying to ensure....yet no mention that the top 8 prospects went top 8 last year as well with no slot system...

Hart's bragging on Heaney & then he says "Well, he's not going to be a #1 or #2 starter." I'd want more from the 9th pick.

Hart took Shuey 2nd overall and the Tribe made him a reliever his first full year...so 9th is low to him for a reliever, lol

Any chance the Pirates are thinking that Appel is worth giving up a future pick (or two) and paying the overslot tax to sign?

Just showed Dahl beating Winston in a race. Buxton's faster than Dahl. Buxton must really fly.

Addy Russell is a great pick.
Best swing tools and power among prep's in the draft.

You'd take him over Buxton and Correa?
I think the A's reached a bit here. Unless they're convinced he stays at short.

Lots of talk about his weight loss & conditioning convinced teams he could stick at SS. Amazing bat speed.

I think both project out better.
I think right now, Russell has the best natural swing and raw power. There is a ton of fluidity there which we don't see yet from Correa and Buxton although I do think it will come (especially CC).

Doesn't it seem like the Reds pick right before us most every year? When we have a really bad year it's always the Royals.

Think they may have reached a bit too but still a very solid pick. I think he can remain at short though he will need to keep that wieght under control.

Nah. You never know what will happen when he's in the bigs. Maybe Chiz needs to move off 3B (RF?). Could end up at 1B though, never know.
