Re: The new MLB Network
I'm greatly looking forward to this. I always wondered why MLB didn't have a tv network long ago. Baseball has far more year round conversation than football.
My biggest fear is that they would think MLB includes only NY and Boston. If I need news on those teams I can just tune in ESPN.

I am really looking forward to this. If the shows are solid, then I may never watch ESPN again considering I only watched that station to see Baseball Tonight.

i agree espn loves the yankees red sox in baseball the knicks celtics in the nba and the patriots cowboys and the giants in the nfl. im so tired of all that shit thats why im praying that the mlb network is good. i like the nba network but i cant tell you about the nfl network because i live outside of chicago and its not available in my area.

Yeah I'm hoping this is a fresh alternative to ESPN and Baseball Tonight. It started falling off when HR left and now look who the MLB Network has, HR.

Re: The new MLB Network
Here's a red flag. I checked out the first week schedule. It's highlighted with "Red Sox Memories" - a 5-part series featuring the greatest players, teams, and moments from Red Sox history. I can hardly wait.
I'm OK with this if they have "Devil Rays Memories" too. (But I won't watch either.)

Well... I'd give them a break early on. It will probably take a while to build up some more original programming.

Yeah it's gonna have it's kinks to work out at the start.
Kinda like a new restaurant......wait a while til the cooks and waitresses get used to things before you go.....or else you're likely to get burned food and crappy service.....

Early impressions,,,,
I guess I'm a little disappointed. MLB Network looks great. Great studio & graphics. But I don't see a lot of original programming yet. Some stuff has been re-cycled and re-packaged. The Hot Stove Report seems like too much fluff, not enough details.
How about talking with a beat reporter?
How about a feature on a minor league prospect of the week?
How about a Cooperstown show?
Fantasy league report?
Let's get creative.

I think in time it will get better. With a new network, not all the bells and whistles will come out at once. I'd expect once spring training gets underway the network will be up and running for 6 weeks or so and ready to roll. Sorta a dead period too right now with baseball news.
