BA: Tribe has best draft in 2010
I know Baseball America is held in low regard in these parts, but today they anointed the Tribe as having the best 2010 amateur draft of all the major-league teams.

Let's hope BA has it right this time.

QUICK TAKE
The rebuilding Indians nearly doubled their bonus spending from 2009 ($4.9 million). They handed seven-figure bonuses to Pomeranz, Washington, Wolters and Lavisky and gave over-slot deals to six other players.

Re: BA: Tribe has best draft in 2010
Tim Lincecum was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the forty-eighth round (1,408th overall) of the 2003 MLB Draft, but did not sign. He decided to attend college instead, and was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the forty-second round (1,261st overall) upon re-entering the draft in 2005, but once again failed to sign... Ouch !The One Who Got Away

How many 42nd round picks get signed? If 2010 is any indication, not many.
What does this have to do with the 2010 draft? We signed our #42 this year so you should be ecstatic.- indianinkslinger

Yeah, in this year's draft... not in the years Lincecum was drafted.

The thread is about the 2010 draft, not the one that got away. The tribe and others let many get away. Part of the game. Couldn't sign an unsignable player just like Burch Smith. BFD!
