dnosco wrote:You know, as I think about it, Kinston is a really difficult place to hit and I think the CL is a pitcher's league with the parks and the small number of teams. Mills' HR numbers play pretty well if that is the case. If so I can imagine him breaking out next year at Akron.
Rivero, I really worry about. He doesn't appear to have his head in the game. Latin players usually will do what is necessary to get to the majors. I hope Rivero does, too.
Akron isn't the best place for Power either. They have a bigger ballpark (the RF/LF lines are further than Jacobs...err, Progressive Field). Even Crowe admitted that it's not the best place to hit.
That being said, I think Mills will handle himself very well at AA this year.
And I too am not a huge fan of Rivero. I've always liked Rodriguez more (but seem to be in the minority there)...

Re: Who is your #1?
well, I think alot of people were expecting much more out of Rodriguez. After his 20-20 year with solid plate discipline, expectations were pretty high. I also like the fact that he'll have a good chance to stick at 2nd base. Let's hope he'll turn it around next year.

I think the drop is Josh's ranking is more a function of who joined and the good years of others then a being down on Josh.

Re: Who is your #1?
I dropped Josh because of his down numbers this year combined with his horrid AFL numbers. I doubt he will ever be a ML regular.

Subject to further review, but for now...

2. Weglarz - Long term, I expect him to be better than LaPorta/Mills.
3. Miller - I still have some faith.
4. LaPorta
5. Huff - Is he another 4/5 guy? I hope not.

Re: Who is your #1?
I just thought people might be interested in the general concensus so far. This list is compiled from results from 16 top tens of toledobuck, jagon1119, indiansinkslinger, dnosco, TheWord, jhonny, GoTribe31, petes999, hermie13, TribeInDrive, Jake Taylor, JP_Frost, MadThinker88, Duane Kuiper and the 2nd edition of jellis. After much deliberation I put artgold's in even though he didn't number his choices. I did however disqualify murt because he didn't have properly defined positions (eg 1a and 1b).
I gave 10 points for No.1, 9 points for No.2 etc. down to 1 point for No.10.
Please note that most people did their list before we had Brantley, and it's unclear whether everyone regarded Scott Lewis as still a prospect or not.
I'm sorry about the formatting but the numbers in the brackets are the number of points followed by the number of entries.
1 Laporta (150,16)
2 Santana (139,16)
3 Huff (109,16)
4 Mills (102,16)
5 Weglarz (93,16)
6 Miller (84,16)
7 Hodges (70,16)
8 Rondon (51,15)
9 De La Cruz (27,10)
10 Lewis (13,6)
11 Sipp (12,5)
12 Chisenhall (10,5)
13 Rivero (7,2)
14 Brantley (5,2)
15 Meloan (4,2)
16 Crowe (4,1)
I live in Australia, so it's a little hard for me to form much of an opinion on prospects, so big thanks to everyone for so much great info.
Luv Humph.
