AFL Spotlight: Will Roberts
Amazingly, the 2013 Arizona Fall League season wraps up late next week. It has been a little more condensed version than in years past, but it still has given players from all 30 organizations a chance to face some of the best talent in the upper levels of the minors for five weeks. One player who has benefited from that exposure has been right-handed pitcher Will Roberts, and the IBI's Tony Lastoria recently talked to him to see how things are going.

Tribe Madness: Stadium Region Round 1 results
The IBI Tribe Madness tournament pitting the 128 greatest Indians players of all time against one another in an NCAA basketball-like tournament continues with the results from the matchups in round one of the Stadium Region. This region featured Tribe favorites such as Victor Martinez, Joe Carter, Asdrubal Cabrera, Toby Harrah, Charles Nagy, Travis Fryman, Mel Harder, Robbie Alomar, Luis Tiant and others, and a few of them are out of the tourney after a first round exit.

Swinging for the Fences: Bryan Shaw – The next Tribe closer?
Chris Antonetti and the Indians organization parted ways with the former All-Star closer last week via unconditional release. So now the question is, who will be the Tribe’s lockdown man moving forward and where will they find him? It was another huge night for Indians outfielder Tyler Naquin who is destroying the AFL. He has made a few really positive signs over the past week where he has increased the frequency of extra base hits and continued to limit strikeouts, a develop that the IBI's Michael Hattery touches on. Possible trade options that can help the Indians rotation
In part one, the IBI's Andy Nichols discussed possible free agent targets the Indians may look to add in order to help their rotation in the event that Ubaldo Jimenez and Scott Kazmir find themselves a new home this winter. Today, in part two, he divulges into potential trade targets. This is always a tricky undertaking, as it's hard to know which players will be made available by their teams, especially this early in the offseason, but Andy comes up with a pretty nice list.

Tribe Happenings: Indians need to search externally for closer
The Indians made news on Thursday when they released much maligned closer Chris Perez and then also made a minor trade and resigned Jason Giambi. Then on Friday they picked up the option on Ubaldo Jimenez's contract only to see him decline it. Tony shares his thoughts on all of the moves and discusses what the Indians should do at closer now that Perez is gone and also how important it is to retain one of Jimenez or Scott Kazmir in the starting rotation.

The IBI Tribe Madness tournament pitting the 128 greatest Indians players of all time against one another in an NCAA basketball-like tournament continues with the results from the matchups in round one of the Municipal Stadium Region. This region featured Tribe favorites such as Omar VIzquel, Hal Trosky, Brett Butler, Shin-Soo Choo, Larry Doby, and Gaylord Perry, and a few of them were ousted in early round upsets.

Today we wrap up the 2013 Tony Awards with the announcement of the All-Tony teams for 2013. These are the first, second and third teams as Tony sees them in the Cleveland Indians organization based on their performance this past year. Again, this is not a top prospect listing by position, but a listing based 100% on performance from the 2013 season.

2013 Tony Awards: Offensive Player of the Year
Today we continue the IBI’s year-end awards with the announcement of the Offensive Player of the Year. This award goes to the position player in the Indians organization that had the best year. Like with all the awards so far, this is 100% based on performance and not on prospect standing. Tony lists all of the top performances and narrows it down to three players who all had fantastic seasons, and his pick as the top player may come as a surprise.

The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has signed free agent right-handed pitcher J.C. Ramirez and infielder Ryan Rohlinger to minor league contracts with a non-roster invitation to major league spring training camp.

Jimenez voids option and is now a free agent
The Indians announced today that they have exercised the 2014 club option ($8 million) on right-handed pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez. Because of the parameters of his contract where if he were traded, his 2014 club option turned into a mutual option when he was traded from the Rockies to the Indians in July of 2011. As a result, Jimenez voided the contract and is now a free agent.

Indians decline option on Kubel making him a free agent
The Indians announced today that they have declined the $7.5 million club option for outfielder Jason Kubel. He is now a free agent.
