Indians attendance numbers hit new lows with lack of support
A crowd of 34,494 were on hand at Progressive Field to watch the Tribe battle the Kansas City Royals this past homestand. There’s just one problem. That was the total combined attendance for the entire three-game series. The IBI's Jim Berdysz takes a deep look into the attendance issue for the Indians and tries to tackle the reason behind why people continue to stay away even with the team in the thick of the playoff race.

Second Thoughts Game #147: Indians 3, White Sox 1
In pretty much a polar opposite game of Thursday night’s slug fest by the Indians, it came down to Danny Salazar and the bullpen holding off Chicago to walk away with a narrow 3-1 victory to continue to put pressure on the wild card race as four teams, including the Tribe continue to challenge the Rays for that second wild card spot. The IBI's Jake Dungan gives his thoughts on the Indians' 10th straight win over Chicago.

Orbiting Cleveland: An unconventional team
Fresh off a 14-3 win over the Chicago White Sox, going into play on Friday the Cleveland Indians remain 1.5 games back in the American League Wild Card race. Many seem to keep waiting for the Indians to fall off, yet that time has not come as the Tribe continues to prove the naysayers wrong. It will take a lot of luck and some good play for the Indians to clinch a playoff berth in these final two weeks. Can the team accomplish that feat? Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he opines on the topic in the latest edition of Orbiting Cleveland.

Minor Happenings: Yes way, Jose!
In today’s edition of Minor Happenings, Tony takes a look at the impressive 15-month run that infielder Jose Ramirez has had going from an unknown player to one currently in the big leagues helping the Indians playoff push. He also provides tons of comments from the front office on players like Francisco Lindor, Clint Frazier, Jesus Aguilar and others, looks into what Nellie Rodriguez needs to improve most, provides details on what is the number one goal in Giovanni Urshella’s development plan, looks at Matt Packer’s bounce back season and future, and provides insight and information on Brett Brach, Richard Stock and others...

In a game that endured three rain delays, and didn’t end until 1:11 AM, the Lake Erie Crushers outlasted the Traverse City Beach Bums, and secured a spot in the Frontier League Championship with a 5-4 victory at All Pro Freight Stadium.

Second Thoughts Game #146: Indians 14, White Sox 3
Thursday night’s offensive performance was impressive especially following their disappointing efforts at home against Kansas City. It had been some time since the Indians had easily won a game in a laugher, so Thursday night's beat down of the White Sox was well welcomed. The IBI's Michael Hattery shares his second thoughts on the game as the Indians keep pace in a crazy wildcard race.

Trend Spotting: Brantley, RBI production and a rambling wreck
When an offense is struggling, the blame is spread quickly and with relative ease usually beginning with expected cornerstones and then the manager. This course inevitably leads to a discussion about lineup optimization and if the fan base is particularly blood thirsty, issues with the hitting coach. The IBI's Michael Hattery takes a deep look into the struggles of the lineup and offers up some changes which may help and also looks into the clutch factor that Michael Brantley possesses.

A Royal Pain at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario
The Indians may be running into a buzz saw in the form of the Kansas City Royals, who has a nice mix of solid starting pitching, a trending offense and a tough-as-nails bullpen. While many Tribe fans point to the Indians potentially catching playoff lightning in a bottle, it's the Royals who seem to be coming together at the right time. All is not lost though, as the eternal optimist, Jim Pete, takes a look through Royal blue sunglasses from his perch at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario.

Second Thoughts Game #145: Royals 6, Indians 2
In the rubber game against the Kansas City Royals the Indians suffered a total team breakdown. A less than stellar pitching performance from Scott Kazmir combined with another futile day offensively doomed Cleveland. If that wasn’t enough, poor performances from Rich Hill and Matt Albers out of the bullpen shot down any chance for a comeback. The IBI's Michael Goodman shares his second thoughts on another tough loss for the Indians...

The Crushers scored 12 runs in the final three innings to finish the Beach Bums 13-3 and force a Game 5 in the Divisional Series of the Frontier League playoffs.

Indians drop another to Royals, 6-2 to lose three-game series
Big game? Not a problem for Big Game James. Royals starter James Shields (11-9, 3.38 ERA) lived up to his nickname Wednesday afternoon, as he shutdown the Indians offense to two runs on just two hits defeating the Tribe, 6-2. In the rubber match with wild card hopes very much alive for both clubs, Kansas City sneaks out of town winning the final two games of the three-game series.

Asdrubal Cabrera Vs. Carlos Baerga Revisited
Back in December the IBI's Jeff Ellis made a comparison between Asdrubal Cabrera and former Tribe fan favorite Carlos Baerga. He saw some concerning things with Cabrera going into his age 27 season that were similar to Carlos Baerga when his career flatlined in his age 27 season. He revisits the comparison and shows how similar the fade for both has been, the differences in their struggles, and if there is any hope for a rebound for Cabrera.

Second Thoughts Game #144: Royals 6, Indians 3
As good as the starting pitching has been in the second half, Zach McAllister has not been able to join the party as much as he or the Indians would like. In his last 10 starts, the right-hander has gone 3-4 with a 4.96 ERA. Unfortunately, Tuesday was more of the same story as McAllister allowed four runs in five innings in a frustrating 6-3 loss to Kansas City. The IBI's Jake Dungan gives his thoughts on the loss.

K.C. puts the heat on the Tribe with a 6-3 win
A three-run sixth inning by the Royals was too much to overcome for the Tribe, as they fell to Kansas City Tuesday night, 6-3. The Indians had the bats going in the contest as the team recorded 12 hits, but unfortunately was unable to string some hits together and could only muster the three runs. Join the IBI's Jim Berdysz as he recaps all the action from the tough Tribe defeat.

Should the Indians move Perez out of the closer's role?
For those whose hair hasn’t turned gray or been pulled out after Monday night’s – let’s say dramatic – win over the Royals, I have a question for you: Should the Indians consider moving Chris Perez out of the closer’s role for the rest of the year as they make their push for the playoffs? That's a question that the IBI's Jake Dungan throws out there and wonders if the Indians would be better off with a change to the order of the backend of their bullpen.

Second Thoughts Game #143: Royals 3, Indians 4
After a disappointing conclusion to the Mets series, the Indians looked to rebound quickly against a Royals team that is close behind in the wild card race. Despite the bullpen's best efforts to hand over the game, they were led to victory by their best pitcher in recent months. The IBI's Kevin Dean shares his second thoughts on another masterful peformance by the resurgent Ubaldo Jimenez and the continued struggles of Chris Perez.

Jimenez pitches another gem, Indians edge Royals, 4-3
Lookout Tribe Town, there’s a new Ramirez in town! In an early September battle for a wild card spot, the Indians kept doing what they have continue to do all season long; grind out wins. Monday night showed just that as the Tribe squeezed past the Royals, 4-3 to take game one of the three-game series. Join the IBI's Jim Berdysz as he recaps Ubaldo's strong start, Ramirez's first big league hit and more ninth inning drama.
