Aguilar Sends Homer and Losing Streak Out of the Park
It turns out that a change of scenery back to the friendly confines of Canal Park was exactly what the Aeros needed to snap their troublesome, six-game losing streak. Jesus Aguilar’s towering, tape-measure, three-run home run to left field in the bottom of the eighth inning rescued the Aeros from a 2-0 deficit, and led to a thrilling, 3-2 win over the Reading Fightin Phils before a crowd of 8,688, at Canal Park.

Minor Happenings: Smith is improving, but swing needs work

In addition to that he provides some comments from Ross Atkins on how the organization prioritizes prospects for trades as well as comments on several players at Carolina and Lake County, plus he provides insight into the development of Paolo Espino, Kyle Crockett, Ryan Merritt, Luis Lugo and others.

Orbiting Cleveland: The fall of a pitching prospect
While no Indians prospect has seen his stock grow more than Danny Salazar this year, unfortunately no Indians prospect has seen his stock fall more than right-hander Trevor Bauer. Bauer has been somewhat of an enigma as he's struggled with consistency and does not seem to be the near-finished Major League product that the Indians thought they were acquiring. How should the Indians handle him moving forward? Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he chimes in on the subject in this week's edition of Orbiting Cleveland.

Second Thoughts: Playoff outlook on a positive Thursday
The Minnesota series and really the last week and a half have been troubling even if you are a glass half full guy. On one hand you can say the Indians have won three of their last four games to hang around in the wild card race, but on the other hand you can say they have only won three out of their last ten games and fell out of the divisional race. The IBI's Michael Hattery takes a quick look at the Indians playoff outlook this season and beyond...

Around The Farm: August 15, 2013
Is there anything better than seeing a top prospect take his team to victory? Sure, Lake County would not have won 1-0 without a shutout pitching performance, but Dorssys Paulino's solo home run provided all the offense the Captains needed. Paulino has continued to turn things around following his rough start and he sustained that constant progress Thursday night. To read about Paulino and everything else you need to know about the night in the minor leagues, join Jim Piascik as he goes Around The Farm.

Head-ing in the right direction
One pitcher who is on the rise as far as relief prospects go in the Cleveland Indians system is High-A Carolina reliever Louis Head. After being cut in college from the Texas Tech baseball team, he has since rebounded to not only get himself drafted and signed by a Major League Baseball team, but become an interesting relief prospect. The IBI's Zachary Francis recently caught up with him and tells his tale...

Sailing with the Clippers: 8/8/13 to 8/14/13
The Clippers are starting to make up some ground in the International League playoff hunt but they may be a little too late. With their recent 4-2 week, Columbus sits six games out of the Wild Card spot and seven contests behind the Indianapolis Indians for first place in the IL West with 18 games left to play. The IBI's Ethan Day recaps the week that was for the Clippers...

On the heels of the two most disappointing series of the year, the Indians entered Wednesday's game with the Twins hoping to secure a series win and gain some momentum. It did not look good early, but they somehow managed to comeback and win the game and series and now move onto Oakland for a big three game set in a Wildcard showdown. The IBI's Michael Goodman shares his second thoughts on a big win...

Hoping to turn their luck around against Richmond Wednesday night, the Aeros couldn't stop Richmond from scoring late in the game as an eighth inning three run home run by Richmond's Mark Minicozzi took the game right out of the Aeros hands, and they lost 4-3.

Around The Farm: August 14, 2013
Considering that Carlos Santana, Yan Gomes, and Lou Marson were all not developed in the organization, it is great to see catchers like Jake Lowery and Alex Lavisky performing like they did Wednesday night. The catching depth looks good in the minors and Lowery and Lavisky are a part of that. To read about what made their performances noteworthy and everything else you need to know about Wednesday night in the minor leagues, join Jim Piascik as he takes you Around The Farm.
