Giambi sends Indians to fifth straight win, beat Chicago 3-2
With one swing of the bat at 42 years and 202 days young, Jason Giambi entered himself in Major League Baseball record books Monday night at Progressive Field. Pinch hitting with the Tribe and Chicago White Sox tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth, “Big G” connected on a game-winning homer giving the Indians the 3-2 win and sending them to their fifth straight victory.

The Carolina Mudcats lost to the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 4-3, at Frawley Stadium Monday night.

A three year Indians review: Third Base
In his fourth part in this series, the IBI's Jeff Ellis delves into third base to finish off the infield and looks at whether the Indians have improved at the position this season. Notes From the Wigwam: Tribe caps strong week with sweep
The Cleveland Indians had a successful week as they are currently on a four-game win streak and coming of a three-game sweep of the Texas Rangers. Despite the strong performance, the Tribe was unable to gain ground on the Tigers as Detroit also had a strong week and went 6-1. Second Thoughts Game #104: Rangers 0, Indians 6
For the first time in 33 years, the Indians have swept the Texas Rangers in Cleveland. At the center of it all for the Tribe was another outstanding starting pitching performance, this time by right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez who went a dominant eight shutout innings against the Rangers offense surrendering just two hits while walking three and striking out six. Victory was the ninth in the last 13 ballgames for the streaking Tribe, and the IBI's Jim Berdysz shares his second thoughts on the win.

Rodriguez delivers walkoff knock for Scrappers over Williamsport
Five errors by the Williamsport CrossCutters in the final two innings of Sunday afternoon’s game gave the Scrappers men on first and third with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. With the Scrappers down 6-5, Nellie Rodriguez worked the count full with a chance to deliver... and he did.

After three straight losses on their road trip, The Captains were able to rebound and grab a 5-4 victory from the Great Lakes Loons on Sunday. This victory was from the fourth game during The Captains eight game road trip.

Indians win fourth straight following three-game sweep of Texas
Ubaldo Jimenez pitched eight shutout innings, leading the Cleveland Indians to a 6-0 victory and a three-game sweep over the Texas Rangers, marking the first such sweep for the Tribe over Texas since 1980. The Indians have now won four games in a row, but still trail the Detroit Tigers by three games in the American League Central. Escobar dominates as Aeros fall 2-0
Akron Aeros starter Paolo Espino rebounded into form Sunday after struggling mightily in his last two starts. Unfortunately for Espino and the Aeros, the Richmond Flying Squirrels and Edwin Escobar were even better. The Aeros (53-55) fell to the Flying Squirrels (50-58) 2-0 Sunday afternoon at Canal Park as they split the four-game homestand with Richmond.

Greenwell working to overcome disappointment and setbacks
High-A Carolina outfielder Bo Greenwell was having one of his better seasons in 2011 when a pitch crushed his pinky finger in his hand and required reconstructive surgery. Since then it has been a struggle for him with several injuries and setbacks that have pushed him back in the organization, but he remains positive and confident in himself and is striving to finish this season strong to put him in the best possible position this offseason when he enters free agency.

The matchup had pitcher’s duel written all over it. In one corner, Indians ace and All-Star Justin Masterson came into the ballgame looking to match his career-high with 12 victories. In the other, Rangers ace and All-Star Yu Darvish led all of Major League Baseball in strikeouts. Around the Farm: July 27, 2013
While Mahoning Valley and the AZL Indians were rained out on Saturday, the rest of the Indians' minor league affiliates were in action and there was plenty of action to recap. Second baseman Joseph Wendle had just the latest impressive night in what has turned into an impressive season while Trevor Bauer was on the mound for the Clippers. Loons sink Captains 7-4
MIDLAND, MI- The Great Lakes Loons (22-13, 49-56) used a big six-run second inning on Saturday night to take a early 6-2 lead and hang on to defeat the Lake County Captains (16-18, 39-62) 7-4. The loss was the Captains third overall and tenth to the Loons this year.
