Jimenez struggles as Indians fall 7-2 to Red Sox
Ubaldo Jimenez was on the mound again for the Indians on Tuesday, but the only consistent thing about Jimenez's performances so far has been inconsistency and that was again the case on Tuesday. The right-hander walked five batters in one inning, and the Tribe never recovered, losing 7-2 to the Boston Red Sox. Join the IBI's Nathan Kemp as he recaps all the action from what was a night that many Tribe fans would rather soon forget.

Launching Off With The Aeros: 4/9/13 – 4/15/13
Things could have been better for the Akron Aeros over the past week, with the team dropping five of their six games and falling to the bottom of the Eastern League. The pitching was the culprit for the Aeros, as the team allowed almost a run an inning. Almost no offense in baseball can make up for that, even though Akron's offense did a decent job. To see who was hot in Akron and who was not, check out Launching Off With The Aeros, after the jump...

Second Thoughts: A sabermetric look thus far
The Indians were off on Monday, but the IBI's Kevin Dean used the opportunity to dig into the team's advanced numbers 11 games into the season. Even though the sample size to date is small, you have to start somewhere when looking at stats. The information in the data so far aligns very much with what has been seen on the field.

Mudcats fall to Blue Rocks, 5-3
The Carolina Mudcats blew a late lead and dropped the opening game of a three game set in Wilmington to the Blue Rocks by a score of 4-3. Defense was a problem for both teams, combining for six errors in the game, and both teams gave up two unearned runs.

Around the Farm: April 15, 2013
It's not often a Triple A team gets to watch two Indians' starters in one night, but that's exactly what happened on Monday Night when Scott Kazmir and Carlos Carrasco both took the mound for the Columbus Clippers. How did they do? Well, they both made an appearance in ATF. Join Jim Pete as he takes a look at both starters, as well as the rest of the minor league action in Monday Night's ATF.

Kazmir and Carrasco Shut Down Louisville
On a beautiful 70 degree night in Columbus, with the minds of the fans elsewhere in Boston, Scott Kazmir saw his first action in affiliated baseball since 2011. Carlos Carrasco lended him a four-inning hand of near-perfection, and the two "starters" led the Clippers to a 4-1 victory.

Aeros lose third straight, falling to Thunder 5-3
The Akron Aeros lost the series opener to the Trenton Thunder 5-3 at Arm & Hammer Park Monday night, giving the team their third straight loss. The Aeros are now 3-8 on the season and have lost five out of their last six games. Baseball took a backseat Monday after the tragic events in Boston, though. Donate blood. Donate money. Donate time. Keep the victims and heroes in your thoughts and prayers. Do whatever you want, but some things are more important than baseball.

What is extended spring training?
With the minor league season coming up on the completion of its second week (already?) there are a lot of players not assigned to a full season affiliate at the moment that are either nursing injuries, rehabbing, or waiting around for an opportunity. In this re-post of a piece from last year, Tony provides all the details on what extended spring training is and what the players there can expect.

Notes from the Wigwam: An up-and-down week
This week started out very rough for the Cleveland Indians as they dropped two straight game to the New York Yankees in unimpressive fashion. However, the team was able to rebound nicely and excellent starting pitching helped the team earn a series win over the Chicago White Sox this past weekend. Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he recaps all of the week's action in his weekly notebook, Notes from the Wigwam.
