Bats, gloves flummoxed in 10-1 blowout
Bad hitting, poor pitching, and costly errors doomed the Scrappers Thursday night, as they dropped their third straight game, getting drubbed in Lowell by the Spinners 10-1. It was one of those nights for the Scrappers where little went right.

Around The Farm: July 12, 2012
It wasn't a great night for the Indians minor league affiliates, as every single team experienced a loss on Thursday. Despite the carnage in the standings, there were plenty of great performances up and down the system last night. There was Jordan Smith showing off some power and T.J. House bouncing back in Akron. But the top spot goes to someone who hasn't been seen by many, but will become a household name before too much longer. Find out who he is (and start learning his name) inside.

Curve top Aeros 3-2 in extra innings
When it rains, it pours. After a 1 ½ hour rain delay before the start of the game, the Curve came from behind to beat the Aeros 3-2 in 12 innings Thursday night at Canal Park. Akron (52-39) mustered only three hits off of Altoona’s pitching staff, which went 11 scoreless innings and kept the Curve in a position to gut one out the entire night.

Columbus (46-46) played a doubleheader versus the first-place Indians. The Clippers took game one, a shortened seven-inning contest, 4-1. Indianapolis rallied to win game two, 2-1, but it took them extra innings to do it.

Mudcats Drop Heartbreaker at Frederick
The Carolina Mudcats watched another rally thwarted when the Frederick Keys came up with one of their own on Thursday night at Harry Grove Stadium. Pinch hitter Mike Flacco launched a towering two-run shot over the left field wall, and the Keys escaped, 4-3.

Elvis has entered the building...
Low-A Lake County left-handed pitcher Elvis Araujo jumped onto the prospect scene last season with a great year after missing the two previous seasons recovering from elbow surgery. This season has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for him, but Stephanie Metzger talked to him yesterday and he feels good and is just working to get better.

AZL Indians pitching and defense bedazzle Royals
It is about time. The defense and pitching finally meshed last night as lefty Luis Lugo threw the game of the year for the AZL Indians to date and helped lead his team to a 3-1 win over the AZL Royals. Lugo went five innings giving up just two hits and one walk.

Around the Farm: July 11, 2012
Triple and Double A both played their all-star games on Wednesday Night, as several members of the Aeros and Clippers played, with mixed results. Aaron Siliga and Charlie Valerio continued their hot play at Mahoning Valley, while Jake Lowery is starting to rebound a bit in Lake County. The guy at the top of ATF isn't unfamiliar with his perch, but it's been awhile. He'll introduce himself...after the jump...

Have a heart for Hagadone
Indians left-handed reliever Nick Hagadone suffered a self inflicted hand injury last Friday, and may be lost for the season. The Indians were not happy about it as they placed him on the minor league disqualified list which keeps him from getting paid, and now the Players Union may step in and file a grievance. With everything that is going on, Adam McGavin chimes in and says that while Hagadone has opened himself up to being labeled a hothead, trying hard is easier to forgive.

Scrappers lose 13 inning marathon in Lowell 5-4
Despite holding a pair of one run leads late, the Scrappers lost a 13 inning thriller to the Lowell Spinners 5-4. Luis Dejesus got the start for the Scrappers. He has been nothing short of spectacular this season, entering play on Wednesday carrying the second lowest ERA in the New York-Penn League at 0.82 in 22 innings of work.
