Ghosts of Prospects Past: David Bell
During the same week that Cliff Lee, Victor Martinez, and half the jerseys in the Indians Team Shop were being sold off at discounted prices, at least one piece of the Tribe’s past was formally welcomed back into the fold. Of course, the announcement that David Bell would be coming back to manage the Indians’ Arizona Fall League team elicited about as much response as the announcement of Winston...

Aeros Not Hit In Loss
Thad Weber went the distance and delivered Erie's first no-hitter as a member of the Eastern League, baffling Akron in a 16-0 blowout before 3,917 fans at Jerry Uht Park Saturday night. It was the second time the Aeros had been no-hit in franchise history, with the only other occasion coming April 23rd, 2002 against Altoona. The SeaWolves, who had not thrown a no-hitter...

Young Goes From Suspect To Prospect
If you want an example of one of the biggest prospect surprises of the year, look no further than at left-handed starter Russell Young.
As a 28th round pick by the Indians in the 2008 Draft out of Dartmouth, Young seemed better off using that Ivy League education for a well-paying job right out of college than the pursuit of an illustrious baseball career. But where he is at right now is an...

Two quick notes:
- Outfielder/first baseman Matt LaPorta has been called up by the Indians today. The move came as a result of outfielder Trevor Crowe going on the disabled list with a right internal oblique strain.
- High-A Kinston right-handed pitcher Alexander Perez is set to return to the rotation after a three week shutdown. He will make a start for Kinston on Saturday in Wilmington,...

Knapp Settles In With Indians
It has been three weeks since the Indians traded ace left-hander and reigning American League CY Young award winner Cliff Lee to the Philadelphia Phillies for four young prospects. While Indians fans are still a bit unsettled by the deal, all of the players the Indians received in return from the Phillies for Lee have now had a chance to settle into their new organization.
One of those payers...

A few quick notes today:
- First off, I will be on "Minor League Magazine" tonight for a segment on STO's weekly minor league wrapup show. The show airs at 6pm tonight, though is re-aired several times throughout the week. I am actually going down for the taping at 12:45pm today. I'll be on for a segment, which usually goes 6-8 minutes and we'll likely talk about some of my travels, the White...

More on this soon, but 2009 1st round pick Alex White has signed.
EDIT: 12:18 AM: Baseball America is reporting White signed for $2.25M.
This is a deal that came down to the final hour, but still something was expected to get done regardless. This was typical agent-team-player drama carried out until the last possible moment for the player to get the last dollar or the team to hold...
