The Cleveland Indians today announced they have recalled left-handed pitcher T.J. House from Triple-A Columbus and selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Mark Lowe from Columbus.

To make room for them on the active 25-man roster they have placed right-handed pitcher Zach McAllister on the 15-day Disabled List with a low back strain and optioned left-handed pitcher Kyle Crockett to Columbus. To make room on the 40-man roster for Lowe they have transferred outfielder Nyjer Morgan from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL.

House, 24, was recently with the club from May 17-19, making his Major League debut on May 17 in relief vs. Oakland (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K).  Around his three-day stint with Cleveland he has gone 1-2 with a 2.40 ERA in 7 starts for Columbus (41.1 IP, 35 H, 12R/11ER, 11 BB, 34 K, .235 AVG).  His 2.40 ERA currently ranks 9th in the International League.

Lowe, 30, has spent the entire season to date with the Clippers, going 1-1 with 8 saves and a 3.86 ERA in 16 relief appearances (16.1 IP, 16 H, 7 ER, 8 BB, 21 K, .246 AVG). He is currently 4th in the International League in saves (8) and he has not allowed an earned run over his last 7 games (7.0 IP, 4 H, 1R/0ER, 3 BB, 10 K). On the year he is averaging 11.6 strikeouts per 9.0 IP, has limited left-handed batters to a .212 (7-33) average against and a .174 (4-23) mark with runners in scoring position.  Signed on April 3 by Cleveland, the Sugar Land, TX native was a non-roster invitee with Tampa Bay this spring (0.87 ERA, 7 G, 10.1 IP, 11 H, 1 ER, 12 K).

McAllister has gone 3-4 with a 5.89 ERA in 10 starts for Cleveland in 2014 (47.1 IP, 53 H, 34R/31ER, 19 BB, 43 K) and is beginning his second career stint on the Major League DL.

I think Crockett should have stayed on team after his performance against Detroit. His 0.56 ERA in minors and the way he has pitched in majors. Lowe should have taken Axford's place. House taking Zack place should work out. I think Zach was pitching in pain and just didn't want to go on DL. I am confused with Terry not letting Lonnie C play more since he is hitting .376, I see where he took Rayburn place after he hit the home run. Thank goodness Terry dropped Swish and Carlos down in batting order. I think Murphy hitting fourth and maybe Terry will move Lonnie to fifth. We are beginning to play ball now and keep it up. Go Tribe!!!!!!

If it's true that it's a lower back strain for McAllister, nothin maybe that explains why he's leaving balls out over the plate or isn't throwing them over the plate- he can't finish his delivery properly. He can use his legs to generate the velocity, but when he attempts to finish his delivery, he can't finish properly, thus leading to him not hitting his spots and the corners as he was doing his good run. Hope the back clears up soon and isn't an issue all year, enabling him to get back to what he was doing the first month. It would greatly help, especially since Masterson looks erratic again, much like he did in 2012.

Don't understand what the heck REALLY happened to Zach. He was the best pitcher on the team for a month, and the bottom has fallen out the last 3 starts, despite throwing 96 MPH. Wonder what is really going on?

Because they aren't going to pay a guy 5mil to pitch mop up workin Columbus. You can pay him that money to pitch mop up innings in Cleveland.

Why didn't they send down Axford instead of Crockett? There has been some dumb moves lately.
