KC Serna singled in Evan Frazar in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Scrappers beat the Tigers 2-1 on Wednesday night. The two teams received great pitching performances, with Brennan Smith throwing seven innings of one-run ball for Connecticut and Jeanmar Gomez and Joseph Colon combining for nine innings of one-run ball for Mahoning Valley.
Gomez, making a start for the Scrappers after pitching for the Columbus Clippers and Cleveland Indians this year, picked up a no-decision. He threw four innings and allowed one run on five hits, no walks, and had three strikeouts.
Everyone in the Scrappers lineup had at least one hit in a balanced 11-hit attack. Third baseman Evan Frazar and center fielder Cody Elliott were the only ones to put up multi-hit efforts.
The Tigers scored first with a run in the top of the fourth inning. The Scrappers answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game. The Scrappers had nine hits
