Captains fall 8-5 in back-and-forth battle
Lake County blows late lead as Lugnuts score four runs in eighth

Tuesday's game in Lansing had the Captains and the Lugnuts battle back and forth for runs throughout nine innings. The Captains started off with a run in the top of the second and the runs continued until the bottom of the eighth, with the Lugnuts driving in four runs to grab the 8-5 victory.
After an uneventful top of the third, the Lugnuts added three insurance runs in the bottom of the third to build the lead to 4-1.
The Captains dominated during in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings and added four more runs to take the lead to 5-4 going into the seventh. Stock started off the fourth singling to center, which was followed followed by a double from infielder Erik Gonzalez to bring Stock home.
The fifth inning showed more promise for the Captains, but only center fielder Logan Vick was able to score after walking, stealing second base and coming around to home from a single from Stock.
The sixth inning was the last scoring inning for the Captains as Rodriguez was driven home after singling to start the inning and reached home on a fielding error while infielder Leonardo Castillo was at the plate.
The seventh inning was uneventful for both the Captains and the Lugnuts, but the Lugnuts came back to score four runs in the bottom of the eighth and took the victory away from the Captains.
The Captains take on the Lugnuts again on Wednesday at 10:35 am.
