Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of the daily performances by Indians prospects. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in offseason winter ball leagues.  The positions listed below are where the player was playing in the game.

Note: The Puerto Rico Winter League was off on Thursday.

Dominican Winter League

Carlos Santana (Leones del Escogido, 3B): 1-for-4, R, HR, 3 RBI, K. Santana’s third inning two-run homer blew the game open and gave Escogido the breathing room it needed to win a game that ended up a tight affair but they held on for the 6-5 win. With the victory Santana and his Escogido teammates are back in the series and are now down 3-games-to-1 in the best of nine format. He also got a ton of action in the field on Thursday night as he fielded an amazing six grounders and racked up six assists without incident.

Venezuela Winter League

Toru Murata (Caribes de Anzoategui, SP): 3.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R/ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 2 HR. Murata took the loss and dropped to 1-1 in the postseason, and had by far his worst outing of his winter campaign. Coming into the game he owned a 1-0 record and 3.94 ERA in nine total appearances between the Venezuela Winter League regular season and postseason, and in 39.1 innings had allowed 17 earned runs on 44 hits, 3 homers, 10 walks and had 28 strikeouts. In a matter of one outing and 3.2 innings he raised his earned runs allowed total by over 40%.

Was this his best fielding game of the winter season. Looks like Santana is getting comfortable at 3B.
