Tim Fedroff continued his International League onslaught with a big doubleheader in which he had a hit in ever at-bat but one. Cord Phelps joined him with another hot night, Bryan Price had his best night of the season out of the pen, and Rob Bryson joined him with HIS best night out of the pen on the season. No beating around the bush though, ZEKE continues to hold fort at the top of ATF...
The streak is over, but the Clippers were able to salvage one of the two games they played against the Toledo Mud Hens Wednesday night. Columbus won game two of the double header, 11-10, after their six-game winning streak ended in game one following a 5-3 defeat.
Winston-Salem, NC – After staking a 5-1 lead thanks to a patented offensive outburst, the Carolina Mudcats surrendered six unanswered to the Winston-Salem Dash in a 7-5 loss at BB&T Ballpark on Wednesday night.
The Mudcats can't find any consistency this season, other than to be consistently inconsistent. While the offense seemed to find their groove without their big bopper doing much of anything, their rotation and their bullpen did about what was expected, and tread water, reversing roles week after week. Tune into this week's Fishing for Mudcats, to see the High A Mudcats at their best...
A lot of people think that being a minor league player or coach is a glamorous lifestyle, but that is far from the truth. The reality is that for those with families it requires a strong commitment from all parties involved while they deal with all of the travel, time apart, ever-changing living arrangements, and low pay. Tony recently sat down and talked to the the wives of Lake County coaches Dave Wallace and Jeff Harris to get their side of the minor league lifestyle.
Tony is back with another edition of "The Radar Report" that has lots of gun readings on several Indians' prospects in the system. This is a premium site feature which posts about once a month and provides the fastball and secondary velocities of players in the Indians' organization that he sees. This week's report includes information on several High-A Carolina arms.
Ubaldo Jimenez came up big in one of the most important games of the year for the Indians last night, and the offense gave him and the bullpen just enough to "squeeze" out a 3-2 win over the first place Tigers. It was a much needed win to start off an all important three-game series against the rival Tigers, and Charlie Adams provides his second thoughts on the game.
The AZL Indians looked the part of a rookie league squad last night as they committed six errors in the field and went 0-for-5 with RISP on the evening in a 9-2 loss to the AZL Cubs. Leaving six runners on base and striking out ten times on the night were part of the problem.
Zeke Carrera is just killing it in Columbus, and like last year, may be the best player there right now. Juan Diaz is playing his best baseball of the season, and perhaps even of his entire career. Preston Guilmet is the iceman, and clearly doesn't let implosions effect him longer than about a minute. At the top of the heap is a guy that's used to leading the "pack." I know, mystic...so find out who it is...after the jump...
The Scrappers racked up 17 hits en route to a 9-3-blowout victory over the Williamsport Crosscutters Tuesday night. The offensive output was probably the result of some frustration for an offense that has had some struggles as of late. In their three prior games, the offense had only managed nine runs on 17 hits, exactly their output Tuesday.
Matt Packer pitched seven innings and one-third innings of two-run ball in his second Aeros start of the season as the Akron Aeros beat the Erie SeaWolves, 4-2. The Aeros won for the eighth time this season against the SeaWolves as Erie lost its sixth game in a row. Akron now has a 9.5 game lead in the Eastern League Western Division.
Huntington Park is known around the International League as a field that favors hitters. On Tuesday night against the Toledo Mud Hens, though, the Clippers needed only to walk to get a win. Columbus (55-49) began its nine-game homestand with a 7-4 victory against Toledo on Tuesday at Huntington Park.
