DAVENPORT, IA — The Quad Cities River Bandits (15-12, 50-46) took the lead in the fourth inning and the bullpen closed down the remainder of the game, earning a 5-3 win over the Lake County Captains (14-13, 45-51) on Friday.
ZEBULON — The Carolina Mudcats (15-12) took the first game of the series from the Lynchburg Hillcats (14-13) Friday night, winning 3-0 after a 53 minute rain delay.
LEHIGH VALLEY – The Columbus Clippers (51-49) continued with their winning ways on Friday night as they defeated the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (55-45) by a final score of 6-2. It is the Clippers’ fourth win in the last five games.
After rain forced the suspension of Thursday’s game, the Scrappers and Jammers played two on Friday. The Scrappers were able to win the second game 2-1, but blew a 6-3 lead they carried over in the first game, as the lost 9-7 and settled for a split.
Jacob Lee has been mightily impressive in the early going of his professional career, but on Friday, he might have just had his most impressive start to date. The Scrappers traveled to Jamestown seeking to make the most of their short two game road trip. They got off to a good start Thursday night, jumping out to a 6-3 lead early on against the Jammers. The weather failed to cooperate, however, as heavy rain forced the game to be suspended after just three innings of play.
