The Fort Wayne Tincaps (2-0, 33-39) jumped to a four run lead early on the Lake County Captains (0-2, 31-40) and made it stick for a 4-0 win on Saturday night. Lake County sent lefthander Elvis Araujo (2-6, 4.67) to the mound and the Tincaps greeted him rudely with a four run first inning.

The Carolina Mudcats (1-0) took both ends of the double header against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (0-1) on Saturday to sweep the first series of the second half. While the Mudcats would fall behind quickly in both ballgames, they were able to capitalize on big hits and bigger mistakes to win 9-8, and 6-5.

Altoona shortstop Brock Holt had two extra-base hits and four RBIs Saturday night, as the Curve crushed the Akron Aeros 13-5 at People’s Natural Gas Field. The win snapped a seven-game winning streak against the Curve, and tied the series at a game apiece.

For much of the game, it looked like it would be another story of offensive struggles at Huntington Park. Luckily, the defense kept it close enough just in case the bats decided to heat up. And heat up they did. The Columbus Clippers (36-40) came from behind to beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (43-31) on Saturday by a final score of 3-2.

LaPorta must have really missed his time with one of the top spots here at ATF, because as sure as I'm an Indians fan, here's LaPorta again. To some people, both the games of baseball and poker are considered to be boring. They both have long periods where there does not appear to be anything happening and then suddenly the games explode into exciting action. However, both games also share a yearly tradition that is the goal of every player in both games, and that is the World Series.

The Indians got their 10-game road trip started off on the right foot on Friday night with a 2-0 win over the Astros. Ubaldo Jimenez continued his June brilliance and the offense did just enough to aide in the win. Jim Berdysz chimes in with his "second thoughts" on the win and the Indians fourth straight win...

Mahoning Valley's offense struggled again on the road against the second opponent they've faced this year. The result was a 4-0 loss on Friday night to the State College Spikes, the short season Single-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Scrappers' lost their second straight game due to a lack of offense, and for the fourth consecutive game the Scrappers' failed to score more than two runs against their opponent.

The Lake County Captains (0-1, 31-39) attempted a late comeback in the first game of the second half but were unsuccessful as the Fort Wayne Tincaps (1-0, 32-39) held on for the win, 4-3. The Captains sent right-hander Felix Sterling (3-6, 5.63) to the mound to begin the second half. He allowed two runs in the first inning.

The Akron Aeros won the first game of a four-game weekend series against Altoona on Friday night, riding another strong start from knuckleballer Steven Wright. Wright (6-4, 1.99) pitched six and two-thirds innings while scattering four hits and three walks.

As their recent nine-game road trip went along, it seemed as if the Columbus bats were coming alive. In the last three games against the Charlotte Knights, the Clippers went .483 with runners in scoring position. None of that improvement was apparent on Friday night, as Columbus (35-40) fell to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (43-30) by a final score of 9-4.

The Arizona League Indians fell to the Arizona League Angels in extras last night with a final of 3-2. The Indians battled the Angels in their second game of the season, but despite seemingly frequent opportunities in the late going, the young guns could not capitalize on their opportunities.
