Captains rally late for season opening win
The Lake County Captains kicked off the 2012 season with a 4-3 win on the road against the Fort Wayne Tincaps on Thursday night. Taking the bump for Fort Wayne was Frank Garces. Garces went 6 strong innings, giving up 2 hits and no runs while striking out 9 Captains hitters. The Captains drew first blood as left fielder LeVon Washington led off with a walk. Shortstop Francisco Lindor reached base on a fielder’s choice before stealing second and reaching third on a passed ball. Lindor went on to score on another passed ball on Fort Wayne catcher Austin Hedges.

2012 Carolina Mudcats Preview: New Beginnings
We close out our 2012 pre-season with the Indians brand new High A affiliate, the Carolina Mudcats. The Kinston Indians closed up shop last season with a playoff run that took them to a loss in the Carolina League championship, but are primed for another run at the crown with the K-Tribe's move to the 6,500 seat Five County Stadium. Loaded with ten of the IPI's top 50 prospects, Jim Pete returns to preview the premiere edition of the Carolina Mudcats.

Aeros shut out Binghamton in season opener
The Akron Aeros shut out the Binghamton Mets 4-0 in the team’s season opener on Thursday despite an early exit by starter Paolo Espino due to an apparent injury.
After giving up a leadoff single to Juan Centeno, a trainer visited Espino on the mound and he was removed from the game. Espino worked mostly out of the bullpen in 2011 with Akron and AAA Columbus, posting a 2.77 ERA while limiting...

Indians designate Neal, add Sizemore to 60-Day DL
Today the Indians announced that they have designated outfielder Thomas Neal for assignment and have placed outfielder Grady Sizemore on the 60-day disabled list. Indians announce two-year extension with Cabrera
Today the Indians have announced a two-year contract extension with shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera. He is now signed through the 2014 season, and is reportedly set to make a total of $16.5 million from 2013-2014.

Where's the love for Shelley Duncan?
Shelley Duncan will start the season as the Indians' regular left fielder. Most people either like or hate this, and the Indians appear to be on the fence with the idea considering how hard they are working the phones to acquire an outfielder. Smoke Signals 4/3: We're Back Edition
Smoke Signals is back! The popular on-line radio show that covers the Cleveland Indians from the minors to the big leagues returns tonight with a few changes, but the show will be as good as ever this season with the return of the one hour format and lots of guests expected to be on the show. A problem from way out of left field

2012 Unofficial Opening Day minor league rosters
The official rosters for all four full season rosters should be officially released sometime on Monday afternoon, but Tony provides the 411 on what the four rosters should be when they are released. A lot of players are being pushed back a level because of all the Major League depth at Triple-A and some pitchers are dinged up. All the details are inside!
