The Mahoning Valley Scrappers won their third straight Wednesday night beating the Staten Island Yankees 2-0 in game two of a three-game series at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
Right-handed pitcher Alex Kaminsky and four members of the Scrappers bullpen combined to one-hit the Yankees. Kaminsky pitched five scoreless innings giving...

Brett Brach-SP, Lake County: W, 7 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 9 K.

Game Recap 8/9: Brach Pitches Another Gem
Simply Un-Brach-able!
Brett Brach was fantastic on the mound once again leading Lake County to an impressive 11-2 win over South Bend. Brach (4-6) fired seven strong innings allowing just two runs on five hits and was nearly untouchable as he struck out a season high nine.
The Captains came out firing on all cylinders in the first inning. Delvi Cid began the game off with a first...

Around the Farm: August 8
Around the Farm takes a look at some of yesterday's performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday's games.
Jason Kipnis-2B, Akron: 1-3, 2B, BB.
Another day, another double for Jason Kipnis. Since getting the call to Akron, the much-maligned (at the time) 2009 2nd round draft pick has a triple-slash...

Better Late Than Never For Drennen
Sometimes it is better to be late than never show up at all. One can make the case that this applies exactly to Double-A Akron outfielder John Drennen.
Drennen, who turns 24 years old later this month, was a high profile supplemental first round draft pick for the Indians out of high school in 2005. He made a splash at rookie-level Burlington in 2005 hitting .238 with 8 HR, 29 RBI and a .759...

Akron's Week That Was: 8/2 - 8/8
It was a rough week for the Aeros as they took a tumble in the standings thanks in large part to front-running Altoona. The clubs played a four game series in a matter of three days and the Aeros found themselves on the short end of things in each game, getting swept out of town by the first place Curve. Akron continued their road trip to New Britain where the tune changed, at least for the first...

Game Recap 8/8: White Struggles Again In Loss
New Britain Rocks Akron 11-3
Aeros ace Alex White struggled again Sunday as the New Britain Rock Cats salvaged a win to end this three-game series with a dominant 11-3 victory. White permitted seven runs in five plus innings on the day as the hosts provided plenty of run support in front of another impressive crowd of 5,426 fans at New Britain Stadium. The last-place Rock Cats of the Eastern...

It's been hard to find any sort of rhythm to the 2010 Kinston Indians season, as the K-Tribe has spent the season skirting the edge of fantastic baseball, but never able to maintain it. This week was a microcausm of that very premise, with nothing seemingly matching in what could prove to be the pivotal week in the Baby Tribe's push for a playoff appearance. The starters were brilliant, while the...

Game Recap 8/7: Chisenhall Homers Help McFarland's Debut
Chisenhall Homers Twice, Aeros Win 10-6
The Aeros defeated the New Britain Rock Cats 10-6 in a slugfest Saturday night, jumping back to their winning ways the night after snapping a season-high six-game losing streak. Third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall homered twice in the final three innings as Akron overcame a rough Double-A debut from left-hander T.J. McFarland in front of 6,489 fans at New...

Carrasco Returns Tonight, McFarland Promoted
Right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco is starting tonight for Triple-A Columbus. He had been sidelined with a right forearm issue where he had to come out of his last two outings because of a cramping-like feeling in the arm. As a preventative measure, the Indians gave him over a week off since his last start by skipping his scheduled start last weekend.
Left-handed pitcher T.J. McFarland...
