Storylines: Cardinals lose two players to DL
The Monday blues are out of the way and after an off day, the Indians are back in action tonight! Carolina Mudcats fall short in extras against Myrtle Beach, 6-4
While the Carolina Mudcats managed to force extra innings, 10 hits proved too few as they lost to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 6-4, after giving up to runs in the top of the 10th. Four different Mudcats totaled two hits while Luigi Rodriguez tallied a home run and a triple. Carolina starter Michael Peoples pitched four innings, but D.J. Brown got the loss after 5.2 innings in relief.

Mahoning Valley Scrappers lose to Auburn in extra innings
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the eighth inning, but allowed the Auburn Doubledays to battle back and force extra innings. Auburn went on to score in the 10th to take the win after the Scrappers totaled nine hits and three errors in the game. Mahoning Valley starter Cameron Hill pitched a strong game, going four innings with two hits and no runs or walks.

Akron RubberDucks top Erie SeaWolves after lengthy delay
As the RubberDucks emerged from their clubhouse at nearly 6:30 p.m., ready to take on the SeaWolves in the first game of a three-game set at Canal Park, the green-splattered radar foreshadowed a long evening ahead. Nearly six hours later, that forecast was correct, as Akron reliever Shawn Armstrong tossed the final pitch at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday to secure a 7-1 victory for the home team.

Columbus Clippers rally to beat Lehigh Valley with 5-run 8th
The Columbus Clippers rallied from a 4-2 deficit to beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 7-4, Monday night. Columbus came up with five runs in the top of the eighth to scrape out the victory. The Clippers' offense was powered by Audy Ciriaco, who had a home run with four RBIs on three hits in the game. Nick Hagadone got the win for the Clippers while C.C. Lee picked up the save.

As is the tradition here at the IBI, the IBI's draft guru Jeff Ellis provides his yearly piece on the top player tools in this year’s Indians draft. This is a great way to look at who has the best tools from the players drafted and signed this year by the Indians and helps fans get an idea of what things to specifically look for when they watch these players as they come up through the minors.

It was pretty much the perfect setting for a key divisional matchup between two teams who were both neck-and-neck in the standings and right within grasp of the first place spot in the AL Central. Well, Detroit leaves town back in first place while the Indians try to figure out what hit them before heading back out on the road. Offensive explosion leads Scrappers to 15-5 win in Auburn
The offense has been very quiet in the early stages of the 2014 season for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. After the first 4 innings on Sunday afternoon it appeared it would stay that way. But the Scrappers offense then exploded for 14 runs over the next 6 innings en route to a 15-5 win over the Auburn Doubledays.

Senators prevail over Ducks in series finale, 7-5
Harrisburg’s Matt Skole hit a two-run double during a three-run seventh-inning rally Sunday, as the Senator’s came from behind to beat the Akron RubberDucks, 7-5, in the finale of a three-game series at Metro Bank Park.

Haase, Captains knock off Silver Hawks, 6-3
The Lake County Captains (3-1) defeated the South Bend Silver Hawks (1-3) by the final score of 6-3 Sunday afternoon. The victory gave the Captains the series win over the Silver Hawks.

Ciriaco leads Clippers past IronPigs, 6-4
The ability to come from behind is a necessity in any sport. Even more important is the ability to take the lead again after losing it the first. On Sunday afternoon, the Columbus Clippers proved they could do just that. The Clippers (40-36) scored the game’s final three runs as they beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (38-39) 6-4 for their second consecutive victory.

Diaz, Merritt dominate as Mudcats crush Pelicans 6-1
Behind an offensive explosion from Yandy Diaz and a dominating start from Ryan Merritt (7-2, 1.61), the Carolina Mudcats cruised to a 6-1 win over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans Sunday. Diaz went 2-for-4 with four RBI’s, including three on his key seventh inning double that sealed the victory for Carolina.

Tribe defensive woes continue, Detroit routs Cleveland, 10-4
The word "error" is defined as the deviation from accuracy or correctness. For the Indians, nothing as proven more costly this season than a lack of consistent defense. Three more errors Sunday, and an ugly seven run fifth inning was more than enough for Detroit to close the book on a dismal weekend at Progressive Field. Slugging out 10 runs on 12 hits, the Tigers cruised to an easy 10-4 victory to sweep the three-game series. Join IBI Tribe beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps an dismal loss from the ballpark.

Clippers continue to play well even with roster challenges
At the moment, things are falling into place for the Columbus Clippers. Manager Chris Tremie’s team won 14 of 18 from May 31 to June 17.
