Carolina Mudcats give up 12 hits, lose to Winston-Salem, 4-2
An early deficit proved to be too much for the Carolina Mudcats as they suffered a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Winston-Salem Dash on Tuesday night. A late rally from the Mudcats wasn't enough to recover from the four run deficit that was created behind the stellar pitching of Winston-Salem's Tyler Danish.

Arias makes turnaround as Columbus Clippers top Gwinnett, 5-1
The Columbus Clippers beat the Gwinnett Braves on the road behind solid offense and a turnaround performance from Gabriel Arias on the mound. Columbus won by a final score of 5-1 as Tyler Holt and Adam Abraham led the offense with three hits each. Holt added two RBIs in the effort. Arias pitched 7.1 innings of six-hit, one-run baseball with five strikeouts.

IBI on Site 1.06
Here is episode number six this season of "IBI on Site", a new exciting project here at the IBI. 2014 MLB Draft: Q&A with Brad Grant
The 2014 MLB Draft is just two days away. This is an exciting and unique draft for the Indians as they don’t have a top 20 pick but they have three first round picks and will make four selections on the first day for the first time in franchise history. As he does before every draft, the IBI's Tony Lastoria had a chance to sit down with Indians Director of Amateur Scouting Brad Grant and have a long, candid conversation about the process with preparing for the draft, managing all of his scouts and the information that comes in, and a bunch of other topics pertaining to the draft itself.

RubberDucks Notebook: Sturdevant is showing comfort
The Akron RubberDucks won two series last week, taking two out of three from Baysox on the road and two out of three from the Harrisburg Senators at Canal Park. The highlight of the week was May 29th and 30th, when the RubberDucks scored 26 total runs on 30 hits in just two days. Second Thoughts Game #58: Boston 2, Cleveland 3
Reunion was the motif of Monday's contest, wherein Cleveland defeated Boston 3-2. While the game ended with former Indians' star Grady Sizemore popping out for Boston, it was a former Boston player, Justin Masterson, who monopolized the spotlight throughout. The IBI's John Grimm analyzes Masterson's start, both in terms of how objectively incredible it was and how the start was a microcosm of Masterson's pitching career.

Masterson turns a corner, leads Indians over Boston, 3-2
It's no secret Justin Masterson has struggled. Coming into the game Monday 0-3 with a 8.84 in his last four starts, the Indians ace may have finally turned a corner. Striking out 10 over seven shutout innings, Masterson led the Tribe to a 3-2 victory over the Red Sox in what was his best start of the season. Lake County Captains avoid sweep, beat Great Lakes Loons, 6-3
The Lake County Captains stayed even with the Great Lakes Loons through four innings before busting out for a 6-3 victory. The Captains totaled 12 hits in the game compared to nine for Great Lakes. Lake County moved to 20-38 for the season by winning the final game of the series for a fourth straight time.

Tremie ejected as Columbus Clippers lose to Louisville, 4-1
Columbus Clippers' manager Chris Tremie was tossed from the game in the fifth inning during his team's loss to the Louisville Bats. Tremie's players managed to score just one run off of their six hits in the game, while his pitching staff gave up eight hits. Columbus is five games below .500 as the June schedule gets under way.

Carolina Mudcats demolish Myrtle Beach Pelicans with 10-run effort
Behind 12 hits, the Carolina Mudcats beat the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 10-4, Monday to avoid the series sweep. Carolina was fueled by a four-RBI day from short stop Erik Gonzalez, who hit two doubles and a triple. Jerrud Sabourin and Yhoxian Medina each added two hits to the effort while catcher Jeremy Lucas walked three times.

A notorious slow starter, Moncrief still positive as June arrives
If you’re looking for someone with a contagious attitude, look no further than outfielder Carlos Moncrief. The native Mississippian has a trademark grin that shows up in the outfield and in the batter’s box, and it’s pretty easy to see why. A slow starter in the past, the arrival of June is just in time to heat up his cold bat. The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have recalled left-handed pitcher Nick Hagadone from Triple-A Columbus and optioned right-handed pitcher Mark Lowe to Columbus. Also, right-handed pitcher Blake Wood has been claimed by the Kansas City Royals on outright waivers.

The Indians are slowly but surely making up ground in the division as they have now climbed out of the cellar and passed up the Royals for fourth place. They are now within two games of the Twins and White Sox and six games behind the division-leading Tigers after completing a three-game sweep of Colorado on Sunday.
