Second Thoughts Game #73: Angels 3, Indians 5
It's precisely games like this that make baseball the greatest sport of all time. Nick Swisher had about as bad a game as a hitter could have, let alone one being paid $15 million a year. In his four at-bats during regulation play, the Tribe first baseman struck out three times and incurred the wrath of many fans. A long drive to right field made everyone forget about those first four at-bats. The IBI's Jake Dungan recaps another dramatic Tribe victory.

Around the Farm: June 19, 2014
The night after only the Akron RubberDucks were in action, the Cleveland system had seven games going on thanks to the combination of two doubleheaders and the end of the All-Star break for Carolina and Lake County. Two RubberDucks still headlined the night, however, with Will Roberts putting together his best start of the season and Francisco Lindor showing off some power. Join Jim Piascik as he breaks down the busy night in the system and takes you Around the Farm.

Swisher walk-off slam sends Tribe over Halos, 5-3
All it takes is one hit. Trailing the Angels 3-1 in the bottom of the tenth inning, Nick Swisher got some sweet redemption. Hitless in the ballgame with three strikeouts, the switch-hitter came up big when it mattered most, connecting on a game winning walk-off grand slam to send the Tribe to a 5-3 victory. Join IBI Indians beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps Cleveland's biggest win of the season.

17-hit night powers Carolina Mudcats to 11-10 victory against Keys
Most nights when a team gives up 11 hits and 10 runs, it doesn't come out with the win. That wasn't the case Thursday as the Carolina Mudcats responded to early offense from the Frederick Keys to pile on 17 hits and 11 runs in the win. Joe Sever tallied four base knocks and Yandy Diaz and Todd Hankins added three each to pace the offense.

Columbus Clippers lose lead twice, drop two to Buffalo Bisons
The Columbus Clippers lost two games Thursday, even though they started off with the lead in one of them. The Clippers' game against Buffalo was rained out part way through on Wednesday, so the two teams finished up before playing a seven-inning night cap. Captains Notebook: Vick's struggles continue at Lake County
The Lake County Captains had a brief 3-1 week as the first half of the season came to a close. Overall, the first half has been tough for the squad as they post a league-worst 27-43 record and sit 14 games out of first place in the Eastern Division. Despite some severe offensive struggles, the team has boasted some bright spots, including a solid first half from pitcher Robbie Aviles and a breakout performance from infielder Paul Hendrix. Stephanie Metzger recaps the past week went for the Captains, who will regroup to begin the second half of the season June 19.

Second Thoughts: Indians needs are becoming clear
We’re nearly halfway through the 2014 season and the Indians stand exactly at .500. That record is reflective of inconsistent play that has plagued various aspects of the team all season. As the middle of summer approaches, the evaluation period for the current roster should be closing and focus shifting to making the decisions necessary to improve the roster for the stretch run. The IBI's Michael Goodman takes a look at what areas the team should bolster as the trade deadline nears.

2014 MLB Draft: June 19th signing update
One thing that is great about the new CBA and the bonus pool system is how much better the signing process and how it gets an extremely large percentage of draft picks out and playing within two weeks of the completion of the draft. In today's signing update, the IBI's Tony Lastoria notes a newly signed player that came out of nowhere, updates on who is left that may sign and the ones that definitely won't, and also provides some comments from scouts on four of the Indians later round picks.

With the combination of All-Star games and bad weather leaving Akron as the sole affiliate in action Wednesday, Jim Piascik trained the Around the Farm focus solely on the RubberDucks. The Cleveland Indians lost to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Tuesday night by a score of 9-3. Josh Tomlin didn’t quite have the required command to effectively hold the talented Angels’ lineup in check. The IBI's Charlie Adams provides his second thoughts on the game and questions the gameplan on how to pitch to Trout.
