Trend Spotting: On Larry Doby, Jim Thome and a statue travesty
Last weekend at Tribe Fest the Indians unveiled their plans for a Jim Thome statue to be placed in this ballpark and a ceremony for the unveiling on August 2nd. While Thome is one of the organization's greatest players of all time and he is a former fan favorite, this announcement is puzzling to many considering his departure from the team in 2002 and so many other former great Indians who were not given the honor. The IBI's Michael Hattery holds nothing back in his criticism of the decision.

Starting from the Top: Bourn, Swisher and Kipnis
Last year, they started from the bottom. This year, we're starting from the top—at the top of the Indians lineup that is. For 56 games last year, Michael Bourn, Nick Swisher and Jason Kipnis hit one, two and three in the Tribe order respectively. They were far from the most potent bunch in baseball, but they have given Cleveland a new look and a new identity offensively. IBI Tribe beat reporter Jim Berdysz takes a closer look at the offensive trio.

Ubaldo just won't leave the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario
Ubaldo Jimenez has never been Jim Pete's favorite player. Not even close, but as the sub-zero temperatures envelope Cleveland, Jim takes a close look at the enigmatic starter and whether or not he's worth the risk of a one-to-three year deal at $11-$13 million per year. Will the Indians sign Ubaldo and deal Masterson? Will the Indians sign Masterson and forget Ubaldo? Will the Indians sign Ubaldo and Masterson? Weave through the highs and lows at this week's Corner of Carnegie and Ontario.

Around the Farm: January 28, 2014
This is it. The final Around the Farm for about six or seven weeks when spring games heat up in Arizona. Unless an Indians player makes his way onto a Caribbean Series roster - which appears unlikely - this is it after Carlos Santana's Leones del Escogido team fell short of the Dominican Winter League championship on Tuesday night.

Swinging for the Fences: Waiting to trade Cabrera
What is the future of Asdrubal Cabrera with the Indians? At the end of last season that, many believed there was no way he would wear an Indians uniform again. Yet here we are at the end of January and he's still with the team and figures to be here when opening day rolls around. Should the Tribe wait to trade him? Tribe Happenings: Masterson might be wise to sign now
Barring a last minute change of heart by both sides, the Indians and ace pitcher Justin Masterson appear to be heading to arbitration.
