Second Thoughts: Indians continue to lack consistency
Inconsistency is the only thing that’s been consistent with the Indians this season. Their latest feat has been the offense’s struggles to back a starting pitching staff that has pitched well of late. The IBI's Michael Goodman provides his thoughts on the offensive struggles of late, takes a look at a key upcoming stretch of games in the schedule, and more...

Second Thoughts Game #123: Orioles 4, Indians 1
Danny Salazar was actually solid in his return to the rotation from AAA pitching five shutout innings before allowing a pair of baserunners in the sixth, who later scored against Scott Atchison. The unfortunate reality of Sunday's loss was the Indians offense was limited to just one run on two hits, all recorded in the fourth inning. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he gives his thoughts on the loss.

Today's piece focuses on a Nick Swisher hoping to receive more info on his knee, who could lead the Diamondbacks if Kirk Gibson were to be fired, and more.

Salazar solid, but Tribe falls to Orioles, 4-1 in series finale
Solid starting pitching and a lack of offense is far from a recipe for success. That was exactly the case for the Indians in the series finale with Baltimore Sunday. Managing just one run on two hits, the Tribe fell to the Orioles, 4-1 to close out a five game home stand. Join IBI Indians beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps a frustrating loss from the ballpark.

Second Thoughts Game #122: Orioles 0, Indians 6
After three straight games decided by only one run, Cleveland's offense took advantage of its opportunities and came out of Saturday's contest with a decisive 6-0 victory over Baltimore. Powered by timely Santana and Brantley home runs, Cleveland gave more than enough breathing room for Carlos Carrasco, and he delivered with a seven-inning shutout performance over only 79 pitches in his second start since re-joining the rotation. The IBI's John Grimm, typically a proponent of Carrasco, briefly takes the opposite tact, and presents limited arguments against Carrasco's continuing excellence as a starter.

Carrasco, Indians hitters blank Orioles, 6-0
Ubaldo Jimenez was greeted well by his former club in his return trip to Progressive Field. The Orioles starter wouldn't even escape the fifth inning. Tribe hitters embraced Jimenez scoring six earned runs on five hits against him in just 4 1/3 innings Saturday, leading to an easy 6-0 shutout. Join IBI Indians beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps another win from the ballpark.

Second Thoughts Game #121: Orioles 1, Indians 2
It took eleven innings, but Cleveland prevailed over Baltimore 2-1 through solo home runs by Zach Walters and Mike Aviles, and through the fiendishly effective Corey Kluber, whose season has vaulted him into entirely largely unprecedented territory within Indians history. The IBI's John Grimm takes Kluber's 2014 performance and, using more traditional metrics, draws implications that could make even the stoic Kluber blush.

Second Thoughts Game #119-120: Indians split doubleheader
In game one of the doubleheader Zach Walters hit the Indians’ sixth walk off home run of the season, the most in the majors, and an outstanding start from Trevor Bauer. In game two they got more excellent pitching but the offense struggled as they lost 1-0 in 12 innings. It was a night of missed opportunities for the Indians, and the IBI's Michael Goodman shares his second thoughts on the doubleheader...

Indians split doubleheader with D-Backs
The Indians played two games Wednesday, but it's the first one they will want to remember. Just like the roller coaster of a season it's been, a twin bill with Arizona started sweet but would end sour. When the dust settled after 21 innings of play, the Tribe and D-Backs split a doubleheader on one swing of the bat from each ball club. Join IBI Indians beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps both games from the ballpark.

Tribe Happenings: Cautious optimism after Carrasco outing
Carlos Carrasco pitched a very good game for the Indians in their series finale against the Yankees on Sunday. The IBI's Tony Lastoria talks about why that start was encouraging, why his time in the bullpen may have allowed him to find himself and what we should take out of that start - if anything.
