Tribe still a starting pitcher away from truly competing
It's the beginning of June and the Cleveland Indians are only two games behind the first place Detroit Tigers in the American League Central. Even with their free fall over the past three weeks the Indians are still in the thick of things, and to stay in the race they are going to need more pitching. The IBI's John Mast believes they need another starter, and discusses who he thinks they should target.

Second Thoughts Game #59: Indians 4, Yankees 6
The Indians were swept out of Broadway on Wednesday, losing to the Yankees 6-4 in an afternoon tilt. Corey Kluber struggled early and then pitched well the rest of the way, but former Indians lefty CC Sabathia led the way with a complete game win for the Yankees. The Indians are reeling and have now lost 12 of their last 16 games, and get set for an important series with the Tigers this weekend. The IBI's Michael Goodman shares his second thoughts on the game...

Indians fall 6-4 in New York, Yankees sweep three-game series
The road can be a dangerous thing. For the Indians so far in 2013, the road has proved to be just that. Cleveland dropped their eighth straight game away from Progressive Field on Wednesday, as the team was swept by the New York Yankees 6-4, now dropping 12 of their last 16 games. Join Jim Berdysz as he recaps all of Wednesday afternoon's action.

Checking Perez' mail at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario
The charismatic enigma, Chris Perez, was allegedly at it again today. In a Cleveland Indians story that can only belong to Chris Perez, the Rocky River Police are allegedly investigating Chris Perez for acquiring a substantial amount of narcotics that shall not be named yet. Yes folks, he received it in the mail. Join Jim Pete at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario as he takes another look at Chris Perez, and the alleged allegations.

Second Thoughts Game #58: Indians 3, Yankees 4
A four-run third inning by Scott Kazmir was the lone blemish in eight otherwise decent innings by the Indians pitching staff, but the offense was never really able to get on track all night - partly thanks to some brutal umpiring behind homeplate all night. The IBI's Jake Dungan recaps another tough loss for the Indians as they dropped their 11th game in 15 tries.

Second Thoughts Game #57: Indians 4, Yankees 7
The Indians' tough nearly month-long stretch of games continued on Monday as they traveled to New York behind their ace. Said ace turned in a rare poor start, an All-Star likely hobbled his way onto the disabled list, and the team's struggles against the Yankees and the American League East in general continued. All of that added up to a loss and Kevin Dean shares his "second thoughts" on the game...

Around the Farm: June 3, 2013
There were a lot of interesting back-stories in Monday's minor league games. Would Lonnie Chisenhall continue his hitting streak, which was currently sitting at 12 games? Could Shawn Morimando continue his scoreless innings streak after winning the Carolina Pitcher of the Week award? Would Tyler Naquin continue his multi-hit game streak alive? Join Jim Pete for Monday's ATF to find out the answer to those questions, and much, much more.

Yankees slam Indians 7-4
Mark Teixiera blasted a grand slam in the third inning off a struggling Justin Masterson as the New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Indians, 7-4, in the opening game of a three-game series. With the loss, the Indians fall a full game behind the Detroit Tigers, who had an off day.

Notes from the Wigwam: Bullpen woes take toll
It was a rough week for the Cleveland Indians as the team's left-handed bullpen options continued to let them down and played a key role in the team finishing 3-4. Of course, if there is a positive, it's the fact that the Detroit Tigers struggled as well during the past week and only lead the Indians by a half game in the American League Central. The Indians will attempt to get things back on track this week, but before they do that, take a moment to join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he recaps this past week in the IBI staple, Notes from the Wigwam.

Second Thoughts Game #56: Rays 11, Indians 3
Sunday’s at Progressive Field haven’t been too good for the Indians this season, as the team dropped the rubber match against the Rays, 11-3. The Tribe is now just 1-3 on Sunday at home, averaging just three runs a ballgame over the four games. Three runs was all Cleveland would manage against Rays starter Jeremy Hellickson and starter Zach McAllister struggled for the first time this season. Jim Berdysz shares his "second thoughts" on the game...

Rays hammer Tribe 11-3
Evan Longoria and Yunel Escobar both hit two-run home runs as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Cleveland Indians, 11-3. With the win, the Rays won the rubber match of the three-game series, improving their record to 31-25. They are now 2.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox in the American League East, though they sit in fourth place in the hotly-contested division.
