2012 Indians 1st Round Pick: OF Tyler Naquin
The Indians selected Texas A&M outfielder Tyler Naquin in the 1st round, 15th overall, of the 2012 MLB Draft. Three Captains named to All Star team
The Midwest League has announced their mid-season All Star teams and the Lake County Captains have three representatives on the Eastern Division squad. Francisco Lindor will be the starting shortstop on the squad and he will be joined by starting pitchers Cody Anderson and Joe Colon at the All Star game on June 19 at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva, IL which is the home of the Kane County Cougars.

Santana placed on 7-day concussion DL
Today the Indians announced that catcher Carlos Santana has been placed on Major League Baseball’s new 7-day disabled list for concussion. They purchases the contract of Triple-A Columbus catcher Luke Carlin and added him to the roster. To make room on the 40-man roster for Carlin, left-handed pitcher Rafael Perez has been transferred from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day Disabled List.

Goedert promoted to Columbus
The move is not official, but the IPI has received word that Double-A Akron outfielder Jared Goedert has been called up to Triple-A Columbus. With Akron off on Thursday, the move will not be made official until Friday or maybe even Saturday if he arrives later than expected. In 35 games with Akron, Goedert is hitting .395 with 5 HR, 17 RBI and 1.089 OPS, and he has 20 walks to go along with 20 strikeouts in 124 at bats.

Indians call up Accardo
The Indians have called up Triple-A Columbus right-handed pitcher Jeremy Accardo to fill the spot on the 25-man roster and in the bullpen after right-hander Dan Wheeler was designated for assignment yesterday.

Indians acquire 7'1" reliever, Loek Van Mil
The Cleveland Indians acquired the tallest player in the major leagues on Saturday, the 7'1" right-handed reliever, Loek Van Mil. The Indians made the deal for "future considerations." Reports are rampant that those considerations will ultimately be cash.

Indians trade Spilborghs to Rangers
Today the Indians have announced that they have traded Triple-A Columbus outfielder Ryan Spilborghs to the Texas Rangers for cash considerations. He has been assigned to their Triple-A Round Rock affiliate. Spilborghs, 32, was hitting .250 with 1 HR, 13 RBI and a .675 OPS in 21 games with Columbus this season. In seven Major League seasons he is a career .272 hitter with 42 HR, 218 RBI, and .768 OPS in 619 games.

Damon to join Indians in Chicago
The Johnny Damon is expected to officially begin on Tuesday in Chicago against the White Sox. Damon is expected to join the team on Monday and will become a regular in the lineup going forward, and not a moment too soon with the offense really struggling of late. Someone on the roster has to go, and that could be Jose Lopez.

Perez to the DL, Hagadone recalled (again)
Today the Cleveland Indians announced that they have placed left-handed reliever Rafael Perez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 26th. To fill his spot in the bullpen and on the 25-man roster the Indians have recalled left-handed reliever Nick Hagadone from Triple-A Columbus. Perez has been diagnosed with a strained left latissimus and suffered the injury during his scoreless inning of work on Wednesday night against Kansas City.

Indians activate Cabrera, option Hagadone to Columbus
Today the Cleveland Indians announced that they have activated shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera from the bereavement list. To allow room on the 25-man roster they have optioned left-handed reliever Nick Hagadone to Triple-A Columbus. The move comes as somewhat of a surprise as Hagadone is one of the Indians best young pitching prospects and is pretty much Major League ready.

Indians reportedly close to signing Johnny Damon
Reports are circling that the Indians are close to signing free agent outfielder Johnny Damon. No official announcement has been made, but with an off day on Thursday a lot of ground could be covered in getting to a deal and a signing could even be announced later in the day. Damon, 38, will be entering his 18th Major League season, as he spent 14 of the previous 17 seasons with the Royals, Red Sox and Yankees.

Indians sign Santana to long term extension
Today the Cleveland Indians announced that they have signed catcher Carlos Santa to a five year contract extension which also includes a club option for 2017. Considering he is an All Star caliber talent and has only scratched the surface with his offensive potential, the Indians are locking in his arbitration figures and potentially buying out one free agent year with the club option for 2017.

Espino to DL, Neal to Akron
The Indians have placed Double-A Akron right-handed pitcher Paolo Espino on the disabled list in Akron with a left oblique strain. He left last night's game after facing one batter in the third inning because of the injury. Outfielder Thomas Neal has been reassigned from Triple-A Columbus to Akron and will take Espino's spot on the roster.

Today the Indians announced that they have designated outfielder Thomas Neal for assignment and have placed outfielder Grady Sizemore on the 60-day disabled list. The moves were necessary as they had to clear two spots on the 40-man roster for right-handed reliever Dan Wheeler and infielder Jose Lopez by today's 5:00 PM EST roster deadline.
