The Lake County Captains (14-11, 45-49) jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and Shawn Morimando pitched six great innings to defeat the Quad Cities River Bandits (13-12, 48-46) on Thursday night. With the win Lake County matched a season high with five straight wins.

Lake County defeated Bowling Green 7-6 in 11 innings on Monday night. It was a right-handed matchup as Roberto Gomez started for the Hot Rods and Joe Colon toed the rubber for Lake County.

The Lake County Captains (0-1, 31-39) attempted a late comeback in the first game of the second half but were unsuccessful as the Fort Wayne Tincaps (1-0, 32-39) held on for the win, 4-3. The Captains sent right-hander Felix Sterling (3-6, 5.63) to the mound to begin the second half. He allowed two runs in the first inning.
