Salazar (1-0, 3.72), making his second start for the Aeros, pitched five strong innings in his Canal Park debut.
Akron starter Paolo Espino pitched his fourth consecutive quality start and catcher Roberto Perez had two run-scoring singles as the Akron Aeros beat the Portland Sea Dogs, 5-1, Wednesday night at Canal Park. Espino (7-2, 3.02) continued to pitch shutdown baseball in the Aeros rotation, allowing just one run.

Double-A Akron outfielder Nick Weglarz has battled the injury bug the past several seasons, and it eventually caught up to him last season and the start of this season as his offensive performance took a nosedive. But he has gotten stronger over the course of this season, remained healthy, and made a few adjustments with his swing that have resulted in much better play of late.

Akron, OH — Akron knuckleballer Steven Wright took a no-hitter into the seventh inning Friday night, picking up his seventh win of the season as the Aeros shut out the Altoona Curve, 3-0, at Canal Park.
After the Akron Aeros got on the board early in the first inning, the Bowie Baysox scored seven unanswered runs to defeat the Aeros, 7-1, in the opener of a three-game series at Prince George’s Stadium. Akron continued its struggles just games before the Eastern League All-Star break. The Aeros have now dropped nine of their last 12 games and have just a 2.5 game lead in the EL Western Division.
The Erie SeaWolves fought back from a three-run deficit, riding six unanswered runs to a 6-3 win over the Akron Aeros in the final game of a three-game series Friday night at Jerry Uht Park. The Aeros (50-37) lost two of three against the SeaWolves (42-43) to complete the first half of their current road trip.
The Cleveland Indians have been looking for a right-handed outfielder with some pop for a while now, and Akron Aeros outfielder Jeremie Tice is looking to fill the role someday. Richmond grabbed an early lead in the first inning off Aeros starter Steven Wright and never trailed in the game. The Squirrels increased the lead to 4-0 after scoring three runs in the third, the first of which came from a homer hit by Richmond designated hitter Johnny Monell. Richmond added another run in the fourth to make the score 5-0.
