For the Indians, Saturday was a tale of the bad, the good, and the ugly. Cleveland was left stunned on Saturday night as the Washington Nationals scored twice in the final two innings to secure a 7-6 victory over the Tribe. This came after the Indians offense battled their way back from a 5-0 deficit to be up 6-5 with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jim Berdysz shares his second thoughts...

Make it seven. The Indians fell to their division rival the Detroit Tigers on Sunday 4-1, and the Motor City Kitties completed the three game sweep of the Tribe. Making his Major League debut, Tigers left-hander Jose Alvarez limited Cleveland to just one run over six innings of work for his first big league victory. And then it was six. For the second straight game, the Indians' late rally was too little too late as the Tribe dropped their sixth in a row losing to Detroit 6-4. The road can be a dangerous thing. For the Indians so far in 2013, the road has proved to be just that. Cleveland dropped their eighth straight game away from Progressive Field on Wednesday, as the team was swept by the New York Yankees 6-4, now dropping 12 of their last 16 games. Sunday’s at Progressive Field haven’t been too good for the Indians this season, as the team dropped the rubber match against the Rays, 11-3. The Tribe is now just 1-3 on Sunday at home, averaging just three runs a ballgame over the four games. With no rain or any chance of rain delays in the forecast, the Indians got a much needed victory Saturday afternoon over Tampa Bay, as they shutout the Rays, 5-0. Ubaldo Jimenez (4-3, 4.83 ERA) looked sharp over his eight innings of work, allowing just one of his four hits in the ballgame for extra bases.

The Ohio Cup will be staying in Cleveland after the Indians took down their state rival Cincinnati Reds for the second straight night, 7-1. Thursday’s series finale with the Reds can be summed up in one inning: the Tribe’s fourth inning. Sometimes there’s really is no place like home. After an ugly six-game road trip that saw the Indians drop five of their last six, Cleveland got a much needed win Wednesday night in Tribe Town, defeating Cincinnati 5-2. The victory ends the Tribe’s five game losing streak, moving the team just 1.5 games in back of the first place Detroit Tigers in the American League Central Division. For eight innings, the Indians looked as though they could escape Boston with a series split. Then, the top of the ninth inning came along as did closer Chris Perez. It wasn’t the long ball that hurt Pure Rage on Sunday, but rather the strike zone. Perez just couldn’t find any of the four corners of the strike zone, blowing both the save and the game for Cleveland. Just as the rain fell Wednesday night, so did the Tribe Thursday morning. After nine innings and two rain delays totaling one hour 50 minutes, the Detroit Tigers took down the Tribe 11-7, sweeping the two-game series at Progressive Field. Having won 18 of 22 coming into the highly anticipated matchup, Motown made quick work of Cleveland outscoring them 16-8 in the series.

There have been plenty of good nights for the Cleveland Indians as of late but unfortunately Tuesday was not one of them. The Tribe mustered only three hits and fell 5-1 to the Detroit Tigers. Crazy may be in fact an understatement to describe the series finale between the Indians and Mariners Monday afternoon. Ten innings and three hours and forty-eight minutes later, Cleveland would come out with their biggest win of the season, defeating Seattle 10-8 pulling it off once again in dramatic fashion. Less than 24 hours after second baseman Jason Kipnis sent more than 34,000 fans home on a walk-off three-run homer Friday night, the Indians got some more late inning heroics Saturday afternoon courtesy of third baseman Mark Reynolds. With the bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the ninth, Reynolds delivered on a game-winning infield fielder's choice to give the Tribe the 5-4 win and their third straight victory.
