Lake County dominated tonight's ATF with some pretty incredible performances over their 13-inning marathon. Jordan Smith took his frustrations out on not being picked for the All-Star team with another outstanding night. Carlos Santana brought his "smooth" swing to Low A for a one-night-only performance. Tonight's top slot was dominance-out-of-nowhere for a Captains reliever. Jim Pete brings his draft-night bravado to tonight's ATF.
The evening was a short one for the Indians' organization, as the Akron Aeros and Columbus Clippers both saw their contests suspended due to rain. With that said, Carolina and Lake County both poured on the runs with victories. Jerrud Sabourin continued his Wally Joyner impersonation (the good year), while a new stud reliever may be emerging. Join Jim Pete's Sunday fray as he takes the journey Around the Farm...
With visions of Belle, Baerga on Lofton dancing in my head, the Indians begin a series against the Twins looking to regain a first place position lost. It's a long season, but with players like Jason Kipnis, Lonnie Chisenhall, Michael Brantley, and yes, Johnny Damon, it just might be the season that the Indians overtake the equally flawed Tigers and White Sox. Join Jim Pete at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario for a nostalgic weekend series...
There's a Colon in the Indians' cupboard once again, only this one isn't a bloated, 40-year-old, fat guy. Adam Abraham continues his role as the biggest over-achiever in the system. Tonight though, the top of ATF goes to a guy who's no stranger to it, and could be his last appearance here for a bit. Jim Pete brings you the candlelight vigil edition of Around the Farm, if you can handle the speculation, that is.
The Carolina Mudcats rolled out an 0-6 record during the eighth week of Carolina League play, to fall seven games behind first place, and likely end their hopes for a first half title. With pitching that dropped off the deck, and an offense that hasn't been able to put it all together just yet, Edwin Rodriguez finds himself behind the eight ball early in the season. Jim Pete and Beck go Fishing for Mudcats..Yo, Cut it...
T.J. House is dominant nearly every time he toes the rubber this season. The Indians are trying out Jeremie Tice in left field because his bat is just too good. Tony Wolters celebrated his Indians' minor league player of the week award with his best performance of the season. The top slot of ATF goes to a power-hitter that nearly hit for the cycle, without the homer? Jim Pete brings a top-heavy lineup to IPI's ATF...
Jerrud Sabourin continues his multi-hit barrage in Lake County. Zach McAllister returns to the minors and still showcased that major league talent. Kyle Bellows' bat has woken up in Akron, while Felix Sterling's arm has gone to sleep. The top slot in the ATF is a 'welcome back' not to a resurgent starter in Akron, who revitalized his career with the most difficult pitch to master. Jim Pete gives you the Memorial Day dose of Around the Farm...after the jump...
Cord Phelps belted his fifth homer of the season, and Jerrud Sabourin continued his multi-hit barrage. The top of Sunday's ATF belongs to a ten-year veteran of the minor leagues, who has spent some time in the minors. Check out the pre-Memorial Day festivities with IPI's Around the farm...
Sunday was a forgettable afternoon for the Captains, who dropped the second game of a four-game series to the Lansing Lugnuts 10-1. It was a rough day for every pitcher who took the mound for Lake County, starting with Shawn Morimando (1-1, 4.50). Morimando lasted just three innings, surrendering five runs on seven hits and two walks. Only four of the runs were earned
Jared Goedert is proving to be some sort of minor league freak while Jeremie Tice continues to absolutely destroy the ball in the Carolina League and Tony Wolters has nearly completely his 2012 May resurgence. While all three shined brightly, and with Matt LaPorta knocking on ATF's door again, a catcher climbed atop Saturday's ATF mountain, and may be a hidden gem afterall. Jim Pete returns for his ATF stretch with Saturday's edition...
