About six weeks ago when it was first mentioned that Carlos Santana would try to play third base in winter ball it left a lot of people rolling their eyes. But fast forward to today and suddenly people are beginning to realize that he just might actually be able to handle the position and that he could get significant time there for the Indians in 2014 and beyond. The Indians have officially signed right-handed pitcher Danny Carela, shortstop Audy Ciriaco and shortstop Miguel Eladio to minor league deals. None of the deals carry a major league invite.

The Indians have signed free agent outfielder Nyjer Morgan to a minor league contract with an invite to major league spring training. The signing has yet to be officially announced by the team, but has been reported via several national media outlets.

Carlos Santana and Jesus Aguilar were both in action once again on Saturday night. Santana was his normal on-base making self and Aguilar proved to be human, but the interesting story of the night is Asdrubal Cabrera suiting up for Caracas. Today, we wrap up our offseason Coach's Corner series with part two of our two-part interview with former High-A Carolina and new Double-A Akron manager Dave Wallace. In part one, the IBI's Tony Lastoria and Wallace talked about Tony Wolters, Joey Wendle, Erik Gonzalez, Bryson Myles, Alex Lavisky and others, and in part two they discussed several other top prospects that Wallace worked with in Carolina. The Dominican Winter League playoffs raged on Wednesday night, and Carlos Santana and Enosil Tejeda had a big part in Escogido's 9-2 win on the night. Tejeda was a surprise performer as he had not pitched in over two months and Santana continues to contribute offensively and keep hope alive on his experiment at third base.

Two of the Indians big guns were in action in winter ball on Saturday night as both Carlos Santana and Jesus Aguilar played for their teams. Now that the playoffs have begun Santana is starting to be used less at third base and Aguilar continues to tear up the Dominican League in every way possible.
