Kluber placed on DL, Langwell recalled
The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have placed right-handed pitcher Corey Kluber on the 15-day Disabled List with a right long finger sprain and have recalled right-handed pitcher Matt Langwell from Triple-A Columbus.

Minor Happenings: Whoa, Nellie! Rodriguez is on the rise
In today's new edition of Minor Happenings, Tony takes a look at the hot play of Mahoning Valley first baseman Nellie Rodriguez and looks at his value and the strides he has made. Around the Farm: August 4, 2013
Even though two of the Indians minor league affiliates were off there was still a lot of notable action among the four affiliates that played on Sunday. One very notable performance came from lefty Matt Whitehouse who is coming on strong at Mahoning Valley and who may be a sleeper from this year's draft. Tony steps in and recaps the night around the farm and discusses Whitehouse and several other players.

Salazar to start against Tigers on Wednesday
The Indians have made an interesting change to their starting rotation in advance of the big four game series with the AL Central Division leading Tigers which starts on Monday. They have announced that Ubaldo Jimenez has been pushed back to Friday and that Danny Salazar will be called up from Triple-A Columbus to start the game on Wednesday.

Pestano to be optioned to Columbus for Rzepczynski
The Indians made a surprising move on Tuesday night optioning out right-handed pitcher Vinnie Pestano to Triple-A Columbus to make room on the 25-man roster for newly acquired left-handed reliever Marc Rzepczynski. Tony gives a quick recap of the move and makes sense of it.

International Report: Indians continue to add talent
The Indians have been quite busy on the international signing front over the past month plus. Back in early June the Indians signed shortstop Yu Chen-Chang out of Taiwan, followed that up with two splashes at the start of the International Signing Period on July 2nd by inking shortstop Willy Castro and outfielder Junior Soto out of the Dominican Republic, and then just a few days ago came to terms on Cuban right-handed pitcher Leandro Linares. 2013 Trade Deadline: Top trade assets for the Indians
The July 31st trade deadline is only two weeks away. The second half of the season is set to begin and the Indians are right in the thick of the playoff race as they are 1.5 games out of first place and 3.0 games out of the wildcard. The Indians have been aggressive in their pursuit of options to complement their team and improve the lineup or pitching staff, and Tony runs down the assets the Indians have to acquire one of those players. He uses insight gathered from the team and other organizations and touches on the top 20 players that teams will covet when completing a deal with the Indians.

Indians activate Wood from DL, option him to Columbus
The Cleveland Indians today announced they have recalled right-handed reliever Blake Wood from his 30-day rehab assignment with the Triple-A Columbus Clippers, activated him from the 60-day Disabled List and optioned him to Columbus. To make room on the 40-man roster the Indians outrighted catcher Omir Santos to Columbus.
