History: McGuiness was originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 13th round of the 2009 Draft out of The Citadel (SC). He was traded to the Rangers in July of 2010 in a deal that brought catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia to the Red Sox. He was up for roster protection in the offseason and the Rangers chose not to add him to their 40-man roster, so the Indians picked him up in the Rule 5 Draft in December.
