2013 IBI Positional Rankings: The Left-handed starters
Today we continue our 2013 prospect coverage here at the IPI with another positional rankings piece on the Cleveland Indians farm system. This time we will review the left-handed starters.
The Indians have not had a suitable left-handed starting pitching option in their rotation since they traded Cliff Lee in July of 2009. Since then they have mostly had a right-handed rotation and occasionally given starts to the likes of David Huff, Chris Seddon, and others, but they have never had a true option from the left side to plug into the rotation.
That is still the case as the Indians will likely go into the 2013 season with an all right-handed starting rotation. Huff and new pickup Scott Kazmir will get consideration for a rotation spot this spring and during the season, but at the moment they lack any left-handed pitching prospects in the minors that are ready to impact the Major League starting rotation at the outset of the season, and maybe the entire season.
