In the 36th round of the 2012 MLB Draft the Cleveland Indians have selected right-handed pitcher Benny Suarez out of Hill Junior College (TX).
Date of birth: 9/28/1991 - Height: 6’0” - Weight: 190 - Bats: Right - Throws: Right
Quick take: In 10 appearances this year Suarez went 3-4 with a 3.23 ERA, and in 47.1 innings he allowed 36 hits, 26 walks, and had 52 strikeouts. He features a fastball that sits in the upper 80s. He has a committment to attend the University of Oklahoma.
Jeff Ellis: Benny Suarez is another slight pitcher at six feet even. He struck out 52 guys in 47.1 innings, while walking 26. I like the strikeout to walk ratio, but would like to see a few less walks in general. Going all the way back to high school, he has always been a strikeout pitcher. He is committed to Oklahoma so this is going to be another hard sign this late.
