They talked about the talent in this year’s draft, their plans with the fifth pick, their philosophy changes over the years, some adjustments they have made to their scouting of starting pitching, the process of setting up their draft board, what they do the week of the draft to get prepared for it, the decision making process, and so on.

The Lake County Captains were on the road most of the past week, and it was a successful road trip as they crafted their first multi-game win streak with four straight. The team went 5-2 for the week, including a split double-header complete with a walk-off against Bowling Green last Wednesday and a series win in Dayton. According to reports, Cleveland Indians closer Chris Perez is being investigated by Rocky River police for drug possession. No official arrest has been made, and it is believed to be for possession of marijuana.

A four-run third inning by Scott Kazmir was the lone blemish in eight otherwise decent innings by the Indians pitching staff, but the offense was never really able to get on track all night - partly thanks to some brutal umpiring behind homeplate all night. Cleveland Indians outfield prospect Josh McAdams has been in the organization for close to a year now. Around this time last year he was selected in the 7th round of the draft straight out of Calhoun High School in Georgia, and has enjoyed the ride since signing with the Indians. Mark Teixiera blasted a grand slam in the third inning off a struggling Justin Masterson as the New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Indians, 7-4, in the opening game of a three-game series. With the loss, the Indians fall a full game behind the Detroit Tigers, who had an off day.
