Aeros win rain shortened game, 7-4
The Akron Aeros defeated the Reading Phillies, 7-4, in a storm-halted match-up Saturday to tie the series. The Aeros jumped on Phillies' pitching in the first inning scoring three runs against Reading starting pitcher Jonathan Pettibone. Outfielder Tim Fedroff led off with a walk and stole second base. Shortstop Juan Diaz reached on a fielder’s choice to the pitcher. Left fielder Jared Goedert, who is currently batting .417 and leading the Eastern League leaderboard, advanced the runners with a line drive to left field.

Guilmet blows first save in 4-3 loss to Reading
Despite leading 3-0 for seven and one-third innings, the Akron Aeros lost 4-3 in extra innings to the Reading Phillies after a rare implosion by the bullpen.Center fielder Tim Fedroff tripled to start the game against Reading, later scoring on a wild pitch by opposing starter Julio Rodriguez. After the wild pitch, first baseman Chun Chen walked and left fielder Nick Weglarz was hit by a pitch. The Aeros lineup failed to post another run in the first after second baseman Ryan Rohlinger struck out on a foul tip to the catcher.

The curious case of Chun Chen
Steve Orbanek makes his IPI debut with a look into Double-A Akron catcher turned first baseman Chun Chen. After a breakthrough 2010 campaign a lot of people were excited about his potential with the bat at a premium position, but with his recent change to first base, Steve wonders what kind of Major League future Chen has.

Aeros have the Wright stuff in 4-3 win
The Akron Aeros completed a three-game series with the Bowie Baysox by celebrating a 4-3 win on Wednesday. Right-hander Steven Wright (2-1, 1.56 ERA) started for Akron. In his previous start against the Trenton Thunder last Friday he went a solid 5.2 innings and picked up a 2-1 win for the Aeros. In Wednesday night's game Wright allowed the first three Bowie batters to reach base in the first, but leadoff hitting right fielder Buck Britton was caught stealing third for the first out.

Baysox get by Aeros, 4-2
Akron left-hander T.J. McFarland struggled to throw strikes and Aeros hitters failed to advance runners Tuesday night at Canal Park, as the home team fell to the Bowie Baysox 4-2. Bowie right fielder Buck Britton opened the game with a single and advanced to second on a throwing error by Akron shortstop Juan Diaz. After a ground out to third, Britton scored the game’s first run after a McFarland wild pitch. McFarland labored through the first inning, throwing 32 pitches (16 strikes).

Aeros dump the Baysox, 7-3
Second baseman Ryan Rohlinger slugged an opposite-field, three-run home run in the third inning Monday night, helping the Akron Aeros to a 6-3 win over the Bowie Baysox in the opening game of a three-game series at Canal Park. Rohlinger’s homer, his second of the season, came off Baysox starter Bobby Bundy (1-2) in the third inning, and gave the Aeros a 4-0 lead. Aeros can't get clutch hit, lose 2-1
The Akron Aeros finished their four-game home series with a 2-1 loss to the Trenton Thunder on Sunday, dropping the Aeros to 6-3 on the season. Starting for the Aeros was left-hander Eric Berger, an eighth-round pick out of the University of Arizona in 2008. Berger spent last season in both Akron and Columbus, though his time with the Clippers was a bit rough as he posted a 10.05 ERA in just over 14 innings of work.

Goedert powers Aeros to 8-5 victory
Jared Goedert hit a pinch hit three-run home run to left center field in the eighth inning and the Akron Aeros overcame an early four-run deficit to beat the Trenton Thunder 8-5 on Saturday. Akron has now won three in a row to clinch the first home series at Canal Park in 2012. After early struggles by starter Giovanni Soto, the Aeros lineup came alive after the third inning, as the team scored at least one run from the fourth to the eighth inning.

Wright, Aeros quiet the Thunder, 2-1
In their second home appearance, the Akron Aeros defeated the Trenton Thunder 2-1 at Canal Park on Friday night. Right-handed pitcher Steven Wright, who came into the game with a 1.59 ERA, had a wild start on the mound walking the first and only Trenton run across the plate with two outs in the first inning. He struggled in the first inning walking three of the first five batters he faced, but as the third inning rolled around the righty got into a groove taking down batter after batter.
