House, Aeros struggle early, lose 5-2
Akron starter T.J. House pitched just one inning and Erie designated hitter Tony Plagman had two doubles and an RBI as the SeaWolves beat the Aeros, 5-2, on Monday night at Jerry Uht Park. House (7-4, 3.72) walked the bases loaded to begin the game as the SeaWolves piled on four in the first.

Akron rolls over Reading, 10-4
First baseman Jesus Aguilar had two RBI’s as the Akron Aeros defeated the Reading Phillies, 10-4, Sunday afternoon at Canal Park.
With the win, Akron took two of three games against the R-Phils, lowering the team’s magic number for clinching the Eastern League Western Division to 10.

Mudcats implode against Myrtle Beach
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans scored four runs, needing only one hit, over the final innings to beat the Carolina Mudcats 5-2 on Sunday night at TicketReturn.com Field. The win assured the Pelicans (33-23, 69-57) of the weekend series, and vaults them six games ahead of the Mudcats for the Southern division wildcard spot.

Salazar strong as Aeros win 9-1
Akron, OH – The Aeros were clicking on all cylinders Friday night on both offense and defense, as the team capitalized on a stellar outing from Danny Salazar and scattered 14 hits in a dominant affair to roll past the Reading Phillies 9-1 at Canal Park.

Haley is ready to take off with the Aeros
Double-A Akron right-handed pitcher Trey Haley looks to have finally overcome a groin injury that had been bothering him for over a year thanks to a sports hernia surgery completed earlier this year. With that nagging injury now in the past, with his blazing fastball and promising secondary offerings, he looks poised to take off with his performance. Stephanie Metzger recently sat down with him to discuss how things are going.

The Aeros defeated the Harrisburg Senators in game two of their series, 5-2, Wednesday night at Metro Bank Park. The Aeros boasted twelve hits led by Thomas Neal, Matt Lawson, and Chun Chen to take the Senators down for the second night in a row.

Lawson's sac fly secures another Aeros win
The Akron Aeros put on a comeback performance to snag their 71st win of the season against the Harrisburg Senators, 2-1, on Tuesday night at Metro Bank Park. Second basemen Matt Lawson, who went 2-for-2 on the night, hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to push the winning run across for Akron in game one of the three-game series.

New Hampshire shuts out Aeros, 3-0
Fisher Cats starter Yohan Pino and the New Hampshire bullpen combined to hold Akron to just five hits, shutting out the Aeros, 3-0, on Sunday at Canal Park. With the loss, the Aeros lost the series and the final game of their homestand. The series loss was the second on the current homestand. Akron remains in first place in the Eastern League Western Division.

Neal and Salazar lead Aeros
Left fielder Thomas Neal hit his 10th home run of the season in the bottom of the fifth and righty Danny Salazar got his first career Double-A win as the Akron Aeros beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 8-3. Salazar (1-0, 3.72), making his second start for the Aeros, pitched five strong innings in his Canal Park debut.

Aeros split double header with New Hampshire
The Aeros split their double header with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, winning the first 7-2 and the second 1-0 Friday night at Canal Park. In game one, the Aeros were led by left fielder Nick Weglarz’s four RBI game and demonstrated a balanced approach at the plate, scattering seven hits and scoring seven runs en route to a 7-2 victory.

Bogaerts Powers Seadogs Past Aeros 5-3
Portland shortstop Xander Bogaerts hit a homerun in his Double A debut and the Portland pitching staff kept Akron in check for a majority of the night as the Seadogs beat the Aeros 5-3 Thursday night at Canal Park. Portland took two of three from the Aeros in the series and won four of the six games against the Aeros this year.

Minor Happenings: Wolters' turnaround has been amazing
There are lots of good things happening in the Indians minor league system and this week Tony touches on the hot pitching of late from Jeanmar Gomez and the incredible turnaround by Tony Wolters, has all sorts of comments from the Indians Player Development staff on players at Mahoning Valley, provides injury updates on several players like Tyler Naquin and LeVon Washington, and lots of stuff on Cord Phelps, Paolo Espino, Todd Hankins, Jerrud Sabourin, Jacob Lee, Nelson Rodriguez and more!

Espino pitches Aeros to win
Akron starter Paolo Espino pitched his fourth consecutive quality start and catcher Roberto Perez had two run-scoring singles as the Akron Aeros beat the Portland Sea Dogs, 5-1, Wednesday night at Canal Park. Espino (7-2, 3.02) continued to pitch shutdown baseball in the Aeros rotation, allowing just one run.

Neal strives to get better every day
Double-A Akron outfielder Thomas Neal got off to a slow start this season, but his desire to improve and get better everyday has shown itself this season as his performance has improved as the season has worn on. He has really performed well over the last two months, and Christian Turner had a chance to sit down with him this week to check in and see how things are going.

Akron falls to Portland 3-1
Portland third baseman Marquez Smith had two runs batted in while four Sea Dogs pitchers combined to throw a four-hitter, as Portland defeated the Akron Aeros, 3-1, Tuesday. Mike MacDonald, Jason Urquidez, Brock Huntzinger and Michael Olmsted kept the Aeros quiet in the series opener at Canal Park, allowing just four hits and one run.
