Around The Farm: April 25, 2013
It's always good to see your first round picks leading the way down on the farm. Tyler Naquin and Francisco Lindor played pivotal roles in leading the Carolina Mudcats Thursday, flashing the potential that makes them both top prospects in the organization. You never want to see players hurt, however, and Cleveland saw two of their better pitchers injured in Columbus. To help make sense of all that went on, join Andrew Zajac, as he goes Around The Farm...

Mudcats take series over Potomac thanks to Lindor RBIs
Despite early home runs by both teams on Thursday night, the Carolina Mudcats took the four-game series over the Potomac Nationals with a 4-1 win. In the first inning, Nationals center fielder Michael Taylor worked the count to full before he hit a home run over the left-center field wall and pushed the score to 1-0. Mudcats centerfielder Tyler Naquin countered the early Nationals home run with a homer over the scoreboard and evened up the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the first.

Minor Happenings: Chen is showing the power at Akron
In this week’s second edition of Minor Happenings, Tony takes a look at the hot start that Akron first baseman Chun Chen is off to, what has changed with his approach, and when he may get to Columbus (or Cleveland). He also has a ton of comments from the front office regarding the Columbus roster on things such as the presence of so many six-year free agents as well as the plans for Carlos Carrasco and others. Finally, he touches on the return of Austin Adams and Trey Haley, the release of Delvi Cid and who may be replacing him, the blistering bat of Jerrud Sabourin, the potential of Dylan Baker and much more.

Around The Farm: April 24, 2013
Wednesday night was a cold and wet one in Northeast Ohio, as anyone who braved the weather to catch a ballgame can attest. Despite this, a few players found a way to overcome the weather, including Akron designated hitter Chun Chen, Columbus starting pitcher Trevor Bauer, and others. Jim Piascik was one of those who froze last night (as he watched the Aeros hold on to a 5-4 victory) and he will recap the night in the minor leagues as he takes you Around The Farm.

Mudcats night darkened by Nationals two-run homer
Potomac Nationals first baseman Kevin Keyes hit a two-run homer that shattered a light bulb in left field to give Potomac the 2-0 win over the Carolina Mudcats on Wednesday night at Five County Stadium. The Nationals held the Mudcats scoreless for the first time this season. With the offense failing to score, Shawn Morimando suffered the loss for Carolina despite an impressive outing.

Coach's Corner '13: Carolina manager Dave Wallace
Coach's Corner returns to the IBI today for the 2013 season, and is a piece where Tony sits down with a coach in the Indians minor league system and really breaks down and discusses several players on the roster. He recently had a chance to sit down with High-A Carolina manager Dave Wallace and they talked in detail about the transition that Tony Wolters is making to catcher, his timeline, what he has impressed with so far, and what his early challenges are with the change. They also talked about the impressive work ethic of Francisco Lindor, the rapid growth of Cody Anderson, the showing to date of Tyler Naquin, the potential of Shawn Morimando, the pitching role changes for Michael Goodnight and Jordan Cooper, and more.

Fishing for Mudcats: A tale of two weeks
The Mudcats certainly have seen the best of times...and the worst of times early in the 2013 season. They started off the year hitting the baseball at a league leading clip. Unfortunately, they followed that up by hitting only .230, with one homer in the second week of the season, and dropped six of seven games. Join Jim Pete, as he goes fishing with your 2013 Mudcats...

Mudcats split doubleheader with Pelicans
ZEBULON- Let’s play two! The Carolina Mudcats and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans took Ernie Banks’ famous words to heart on Saturday as the teams played a double-header at Five County Stadium. After the Pelicans picked up a 3-2 win in the first game, the Carolina Mudcats gave up a three-run lead and lost the second game 6-3. This was the third time in the last two seasons the Mudcats have been swept in a doubleheader by the Pelicans.

Around the Farm: April 18, 2013
Thursday was a busy day Around The Farm, headlined by some offensive fireworks in Akron. The Aeros' offense was clicking on all cylinders, with players like Chris Wallace and Carlos Moncrief knocking the ball around the park. No one was bigger than Chun Chen, however, who finally answered the question everyone has been asking: where is the power? Join Arthur Kinney as he recaps the night in the minor leagues and checks in on the other affiliates, after the jump...

Mudcats snap losing streak, beat Pelicans 5-1
After a horrible first road trip of the season, the Carolina Mudcats did something they had not done in five games: win. The Mudcats jumped out to an early lead and held on for a 5-1 win in the first game of a four game series against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on Thursday night. Mudcats manager David Wallace said it was a big win for the Mudcats coming off of a five-game losing streak.

Minor Happenings: Wendle is proving to be a legit prospect
Today’s Happenings focus in on the hot start of High-A Carolina second baseman Joey Wendle and Triple-A Columbus right-handed pitcher Fernando Nieve. How much is Wendle rising up the prospect ranks? Could Nieve be an option in Cleveland? Tony touches on that and also looks at the impressive approach that Low-A Lake County first baseman Nellie Rodriguez is showing, the clutch performance of Double-A Akron first baseman Jesus Aguilar, and much more on players like Tim Fedroff, Chun Chen, Owen Dew, Ryan Merritt and more.

Around The Farm, April 17, 2013
The Akron Aeros headlined the action down on the farm last night, as Tyler Holt, Giovanny Urshela, Jesus Aguilar, and friends headed an offensive charge that led to 10 runs and a win. The Lake County Captains also won, somehow scoring seven runs on five hits (only one of which went for extra bases). Columbus and Carolina lost thanks to some suspect pitching, but there were still encouraging performances to enjoy. Join Jim Piascik as he takes you through the good and the bad as he goes Around The Farm.

Mudcats lose fifth straight, fall to Blue Rocks 6-2
On Wednesday, the Carolina Mudcats dropped their season-high fifth straight game and were swept by the Wilmington Blue Rocks by a score of 6-2. The Mudcats struggled to get anything going offensively all day, ending the road trip 1-5 and 5-7 overall. Mudcats starting pitcher Jacob Lee was handed his first loss of the season. The Mudcats are still having trouble hitting with runners in scoring position, going 2-for-7 on Wednesday.
