Vizquel wants to manage next year
It has been reported that Omar will retire at the end of the season, and wants to manage next season in MLB. It's rare for somebody to go directly from an active player to manager. Rare, but it has been done.
Here is my suggestion for the Indians and Omar:
Acquire Omar from the Blue Jays and let him spend his last month as a player/coach with the Indians. Now I'm the last guy to suggest a publicity stunt like this but I think even I would go to see Omar as an Indian one last time.
1. The Indians would love any bump in attendance after this disaster.
2. Gives Omar a chance to retire as an Indian. (unlike Thome)
3. Make Omar infield and bench coach. I know Sandy is the bench coach. But Omar could help with strategy, scouting reports, lineups. It would be good experience for him.
As far as him managing somewhere next season - who knows?
I can say I will be there in Cooperstown for his Induction Day.

I would love to see Omar finish the year as an indian. The blue jays wouldn't want much for him, and considering the nature of theirs and our situation plus the sentimentality of baseball they would probably do their best to facilitate a trade sending omar back to the tribe. Only a knucklehead wouldnt go watch him play at least once more in an indians uniform.

Lars Anderson for Visquel. Then bring back Russ Branyan, who was released by the Yankees yesterday. I am semi-serious...

^No... just, no
I think Gregario Petit or Matt Lawson would be more in line for what Vizquel is worth. Maybe Paulo Espino if you want to trade an arm.
