Asdrubal Cabrera and Indians on verge of extension?

According to Foxsports, the Tribe and Cabrera are close on a 2 year, $16.5M extension that would cover 2013 and 2014 (last arby year and first year of free agency). Antonetti has given the 'no comment' answer when asked.

Seems decent to me as it's in line with another $2M raise in 2013 via arby (around $7M) then $9M or so in 2014. Seems a lil pricey to me but would be nice to keep Cabrera around an extra year as we don't have any real starting SS options close enough to take over in 2014 IMO.

This is very good news.

I like ACab, and I think it shows others inside, and outside the organization, that the Indians will pay a reasonable salary if you perform. You have to start somewhere.

It could convince others like Choo and Ubaldo, to get an extension done.

I do not want to extend Ubaldo - think his best days are behind him and Choo wants big money and a different team, IMO. Choo wants out of Cleveland imo.

I would love to see them sign Acab to extension.
