Wilson Ramos (Natinals) Kidnapped

First MLer to get kidnapped (ransomed) but this is fairly common in South America...Wonder if MLB teams will be making changes to protect their players down there. Especially for those American/Canadian players sent there for winter ball. Maybe since most non-Latinos sent there are mostly prospects and not established players that they are not quite at risk but imagine what would happen if an American player would experience this.

This is absolutely terrible, and a shame that due to the Penn State issues isn't getting a ton of coverage. Best wishes to Ramos and his family. Hopefully he's returned safe and sound and without too much damage. Very scary too because while Ramos is a MLer, he isn't making hardly anything (by MLB standards). Obviously still 'rich' of sorts for latin america, but makes you wonder about lots of players down there.

Makes you wonder about the future of winter ball in Venezuela.

Wilson Ramos was rescued from the kidnappers in the mountains of Venezuela amid a flurry of gunfire. Ramos was shaken, but was unhurt.
