Ball jumps off that man's bat. He needs to max his ABs the remainder of the year. Hanahan will have his place - but Chis looks like he can be special.

And would it not be nice to keep Fukadome for next year?

I'm upping my projected homer total for The Chiz:

Next year's projected "Healthy" Lineup (primary positions) should feature a top to bottom, # 1 through # 9 power output that could look like this:

Kosuke Fukudome..LF........22 homers
Grady Sizemore.....CF...... 22 homers
Shin-soo Choo......RF........22 homers
Carlos Santana......C........22 homers
Jack Hannahan.....1B........22 homers
Jason Kipnis........2B........22 homers
Lonnie Chisenhall..3B........22 homers.... 32 homers
Asdrubal Cabrera...SS........22 homers
Travis Hafner.......DH.......22 homers

Add
Jason Donald......Util........ 4 homers
Lou Marson........C..........6 homers
Michael Brantley...OF........10 homers
Shelly Duncan......Util........8 homers

Totaled, and that's 226 homers {times two (2) for doubles = 450, divided by ten (10) for triples = 23} which would give the Sons of Geronimo plenty of power.. Now, will everyone in the starting lineup get 22 homers?.. no.. but some will get more and some will get less.. but all are at least capable of getting at or near the level suggested. If there is good health.. at least half the guys on the list have a good chance of going over these projected home run totals. It always comes down to health when discussing a middle/small market team..

It would be a huge benefit to the Indians..he's a solid defender, can play anywhere in the OF and hits the ball to all fields.. More than anything, he puts the ball in play.. He'd be welcomed back to the wigwam... :good:

Keep him if he'll take an 80% pay cut...

I wonder what he will sign for next year? Note - with the Indians he is getting RBIs.

I'm hoping that hitting two HRs off a lefty like Buerhle in one game will really boost his confidence. It looks like he needs a boost, because he has looked overmatched at the plate ever since he came up. Now he's getting to play every day with the injury to Hannahan. Maybe that's exactly what he needs. Let's see if he can build on that over the last 20 games.

Acta was quoted in today's PD as saying the Indians need more offensive production from 1st and 3rd base next year. Maybe Chiz will be the answer at 3rd. And what about Hannahan, who is brilliant defensively but streaky and inconsistent at the plate?

At first base, Nick Johnson is crushing the ball in the Clippers first playoff series, hitting over .500 with several doubles. I'm wondering if he's putting himself in the picture for the Tribe next year. It also sounds like they haven't written off LaPorta yet as they're trying to get him to be more selective at the plate and use the whole field. And then there's Santana, who does not look like a competent major league catcher to me by any stretch, but he's better offensively than LaPorta.

It will be interesting to see how 1st and 3rd base shakes out next year, and whether the Indians go outside the org for some help at first base if they are committed to Santana catching and they don't think Johnson or LaPorta can get it done.

As a general rule, whenever the PD has a story (the ABJ has the same companion story) that seems open ended.. like the one presented about Acta stating that production form the corner IF spots needs to be improved..

LOOK FOR THE IDIOT MEDIA AGENDA...

In this case.. there is blood in the water.. that is, Matt Laporta was demoted to AAA for a 10 day period. While the Indians stated it was because Matt was at the position where the Indians were the deepest, the Sheldon Ocker's and Paul Hoynes' didn't buy it.. and didn't report it that way..

Manny Acta isn't responsible for acquiring the talent.. His comments.. fit these moron's agenda & this group of BUZZARDS are out for blood.. Matt LaPorta's blood.. and they won't stop until Matt LaPorta becomes a superbly productive player.. or is traded.. BTW.. when Matt LaPorta does perform (87 games this season.. still a lot of talent there).. the story you'll see will be these VULTURES proclaiming how they were the mouth pieces for the public that wanted to see Matt perform.

THEY ARE HYPOCRITES..

...and it's not the first time they've done this.. Hello Mr Brandon Phillips.. and Eric Wedge was made to blame..
