2011 WWBA Tournament

Postby daingean » Tue Jul 05, 2011 10:12 am

Will Jamison OF - Dulin Dodgers

0-2 R
2-4 R RBI 2B SB

Notes: Owenby was able to leave with a big league after just 4 innings thanks to a lot of run support. Will Jamison (2011 Evangelical Christian HS, Eads, TN), Daniel Garner (2012 Sparkman HS, Madison, AL) and Kyle Overstreet (2012 Boaz HS, AL) each collected multiple hits.

Cole Pitts RHP - Middle Georgia Titans

has not appeared in a game yet

Sorry for the delay (this tournament started on Saturday) but we were out of town in a tournament of our own.

Will Jamison had a big day against the East Cobb Blue Jays tonight.

1-2 R 4RBI HR

It wasn't a slam because he was credited with 3 quality at bats (one must have been a sac or SF).

Blog entry from Cole Pitts' pitching performance:

RHP Cole Pitts (6-6/220, Moultrie, GA, signed with Georgia Tech) of the Middle Georgia Titans threw a gem Tuesday, shutting out the St. Johns Heat on 2 hits while striking out 11 hitters. Pitts, who the Cleveland Indians drafted in the 32nd round in June, pitched between 87 and 91 mph. His best off speed pitch was a very nice change up in the 76-78 mph range, although he'll have to tighten up his curveball for the next level. Based on the pitchers we've seen at this event, Georgia Tech is going to have a very nice pitching staff over the next 3-4 years!

Playoffs started:

Dulin's Dodgers advance 10-0

Will Jamison 1-3 1R 1RBI 1BB Hit was a triple

Playing now against the Ohio Warhawks

Pitt's team did not qualify for bracket play. Will have a consolation game but he has already pitched so I don't expect him to pitch anymore.

Jamison is committed to Ole Miss from what I can tell. HS Guys committed to college that are 45th round picks seldom sign. If he shows enough maybe the Tribe will step up to the plate. Very similar to CT Bradford (Miss State) last year OF/P the Tribe drafted last year but failed to sign. Bradford won the MVP in this tourny last year.

Dulin's Dodgers advance in a hard fought 2-1 victory. Jamison was the starting pitcher (I like OF that pitch at this level because it means they have arm strength).

5IP 1ER 3Hits 2BB 2K's

Offensively 0-0 BB and an SB (SB's are rare for pitchers as usually they "courtesy run" for pitchers in this tournament).

Edit: I just report on what I know. It will be up to the FO to decide if they go after Jamison hard.

Next up the East Cobb Yankees (18u) which is the top 18u team at East Cobb.

Perfect Game blog from Dulins Dodgers game:

LHP Will Jamison (2011, Evangelical Chrsitian, Texas) got the start and was sharp over 5 innings, allowing only 3 hits while striking out 2. He showed good command of the strike zone, using a 80-86 fastball that peaked at 87 and a handful of low-70s curveballs. Jamison was selected by the Indians in the 45th round of the draft last month by the Indians, and has committed to play for Ole Miss.

Dulin's Dodgers beaten 5-4 by the ECB Yankees 5-4 in the semifinals

Will Jamison 0-4 R and 2K's

All Indians draftees are now done. Will had a good tournament despite an 0-4 in the last game.

Edit: Blake Burkett was the Yankee's pitcher and he is a 2012 HS from West Forsyth Georgia
