My guess (in 15 minutes of reading scouting reports, so take it fwiw):
Lindor
Howard
Sisco
Haase
Tarpley
Peters
Sparks
Kramer
FWIW, Just looked up Grant's drafts:
2008: signed 19 of 20 (17rounder not) and 23 of top 25 picks
2009: signed 19 of 20 (again 17th rounder not) and 20 of top 25
2010: signed 17 of 20 (15th, 16th, 20th not) and 20 of top 25

Is Grant the guy who signs these guys? He's just the scouting guy I would think, other front office people (maybe GM?) do the negotiating, no?

Scouts are the ones credited with signing players. If you look at the BA top 10's, it lists the scout who signed the player.

Re: Official 2011 MLB Draft thread
Tyler Nurdin is a 2010 LHP with a 6'2'', 193 lb. frame from Fort Worth, TX who attends R L Paschal HS. Solid athletic build with room to fill out. Leans back in delivery, H 3/4's release with long arm action, falls off on release. Mid 80's FB tails at plate, topped at 87. CB best pitch, very good velo, power downer break with 12/6 shape, very sharp at times, good feel for change with late life. With fine tuned mechanics could have command to pitch backwards to set up CB as out pitch. Very interesting lefty to follow closely. Excellent student.

Jared Ruxer from WWBA 17U
From WWBA 18U World Championship - played on same team as Dillion Howard and Dillon Peters
2011 RHP Jared Ruxer: LIDS Indiana Bulls/Lawrence Central HS, Indianapolis, IN
6-3, 175 lbs, threw 7 innings in 3-1 Bulls win, 7 hits, 6 K's. Fastball 88-91 mph, 82 mph Slider, 76 mph Chg. Tall athletic build, 3/4's release, fast arm, hides ball well, nice slider with tight spin, gets on top of ball, good stamina, maintained velo, clean arm action, very good command, calm and confident with good fluid rhythm, throws SL in any count, good sink/tail occ on FB, bulldog personality, 90 mph on last pitch of game with full count and bases loaded.
Ruxer attends the same high school as 2011 RHP Christian Montgomery, one of the top ranked pitchers in the 2011 class. That is one powerful set of high school starting pitchers.
From WWBA 18U World Championship - played on same team as Dillion Howard and Dillon Peters
RHP Jared Ruxer (2011 Indianapolis, IN) touched 91 and showed some late run on his fastball.

Jared Ruxer is a 2011 RHP with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from Indianapolis, IN who attends Lawrence Central HS. Lanky slender build, plenty of room to get stronger. Hands over head delivery, very limited lower half use, tall and fall delivery. Very fast and easy arm, compact in back. Fastball 89-92 mph, outstanding running action at times, FB even moves when up in zone, can pitch to spots even with FB movement. Change up best off speed, some feel, SL has soft present spin. Could have mid 90's arm with work and maturity, must develop better off speed feel. Good student.

I believe Jurrjens is from the Antilles as well (Curacao, Aruba, etc). It's actually part of the dutch kingdom (sort of).
Btw, loving this draft so far.

Why not just sign the top 10 players we drafted (not necessarily rounds 1-10) and call it a day? Like our system needs another 30 or so players, just sign the best ones even if it costs $10M.

I love 19 HS and juco picks. That is really fantastic. Even the college picks had a shortage of the Diego Seastrunk Jordan Cooper deadweight options.
Signing them will be a bitch. I would love to see them nail a pile of those HS picks.

Did I get that all right? I just wanted to see it all put together on one page so please correct me if I got anything wrong.
I don't know college baseball all that well, but there are some pretty serious colleges that some of these guys are considering and quite a few that don't have too many options so should be pretty easy to sign.

WHoever asked, the GM does not really have anything to do with signing any of these picks. The signing duties almost all lie with the area scouts who work through Brad Grant and the rest of his staff. Grant/Mirabelli are more directly involved in negotiating with the big dollar guys.

11-12 easy signings + 3of4 from Lindor, Howard, Tarpley, Haase + 2-3 from the rest
I'd be ok to punt Lindor, if he wants more than 3.5 AND if that means we get Howard, Haase, Tarpley, Peters, Sparks and Kramer all over slot..it would be like trading out of the 8th pick, just that we get the same pick again next draft on top
Overall a good, solid 2nd day

Sidney Ponson was from Aruba and was knighted or something or like that (which I believe helped him out with some legal trouble there later on).
The first player from Curacao was the great Hensley "Bam Bam" Meulens.

Re: Official 2011 MLB Draft thread
If that's the case with Lindor could give tribe a bit of leverage... Not much could go jc route like LWashington. Think the tribe will have to put out some serious cash for Lindor and Howard, really like these two. If these picks were interchanged I think there would have been a lot less bickering yesterday. Thing about not getting ABradley tribe should have more to spend than they would have. Def. Some interesting pks. Love the aggressiveness, I'd be glad to see the tribe get 15-18 of these guys. It will be tough.
If the tribe spends $9.5 million again whose the targets?
Lindor 3.25
Howard 2
Sisco 500k
Lowery 150k
Roberts 150k
Myles 150k
Haase 1.15
Tarpley 1.1
Smith 150k
Johnson 150k
DeJesus 150k
Sides 150k
Macphee 150k
Allen 150k
Kramer 500k
This is 15 Players for about $10 mil. Probably what we will see maybe a bit more.

I expect an article ranking the top Indians draftees along with the likelihood of them signing as well as an updated organizational top 10 assuming that all of the draft picks sign (just for kicks) on my desk by tomorrow morning!

Re: Official 2011 MLB Draft thread
I know he's not ranked highly by BA, but Jake Sisco looks like a good pitching prospect. I don't know his velocities, what his breaking pitches look like or his command (others' scouting reports give him fair marks on all three, though), but this guy is a very nice projectable pitching talent. Good pitcher's body, athletic and his arm is nice and loose. I think there is more velocity to come with him. It does not take too much imagination to see Sisco develop into a Matt Barnes-type in the not too distant future. It's possible that he's got a glaring weakness or two that is not evident in his video clip, but there are HS guys that went late 1st round and in the supplemental round that do not have the talent Sisco has. Think Sisco is a high upside guy and if he signs for slot or slightly above, the Indians will have done very well. Happy with the selection.

Re: Official 2011 MLB Draft thread
The selection of Evan Frazar could be the biggest steal of the later rounds of the draft for the Indians. This kid is a lot like Nomar Garciapara. He's got a competitive edge, strong wrists, soft hands, great throwing arm and hits line drives everywhere.. he's got a lot of upside & should be a relatively easy sign.. Really like the pick..
