Chad Cordero
Chad Cordero was released by the Nationals......
When healthy a pretty good closer. Still young (will be 27 on opening day) and might be ready by opening day after missing most of the year with injury. Could be a low risk pickup....plus we know the Tribe loves adding injured players or guys coming off injury.....

Re: Chad Cordero
I would be in favor of adding Chad, especially if its a 1 year deal that is incentive laden.

"when healthy..."
Too much of an injury risk, and with the premium on bullpen arms, he'll get a 2-year offer from SOMEONE to work in the back end of a bullpen. No thanks.

Re: Chad Cordero
I highly doubt he'll get a 2 year deal from anyone. He had surgery on a labrum tear.....and while those aren't quite as bad as they used to be, they're still pretty serious (moreso than TJ surgery).....

Re: Chad Cordero
C. Cordero is exactly the type of signing Shap loves to do. Cordero has excellent upside and could definitely help our bullpen in the second half of the season. His signing would not be great if he is the only offseason FA bullpen signing but signing him in conjunction with someone else (ie Fuentes, Affeldt, J. Cruz, Lyon, etc) would be very nice additions to our pen.

I'm all for signing Cordero, especially if we don't think Miller or Sipp can make an immediate impact in our bullpen. It's a low-risk signing with potential for very good upside. It also would give us a decent amount of insurance if Betancourt were to falter again next season.
One year with a club option would be the way to go.
