Re: Pedro Martinez
rotoworld is only reporting that the Indians have been linked with Martinez at some point...... that point was before Pavano signed.
I sincerely doubt they have any interest now.

Re: Pedro Martinez
Yeah there was a story the other day about Pedro losing a potential suitor when the Indians signed Pavano. There was talk about Pavano looking for a $7M contract, now it wasn't known if that was guaranteed or the total for incentives, but from what I read later, it looks like he is looking for a guaranteed deal of $7M. Forget that.

Yeah and Abreu is still looking for a 3/48 deal, he wont get it, but he is looking for it. I have to say Pedro's agent is probably firm on getting 7, so I bet that is why the Indians probably backed off if they were even that close to negotiating a deal, 7 was worth Millwood, but not Pedro.

Re: Pedro Martinez
If Pedro could prove he was completely healthy he'd be worth $7M guranteed. Trouble is it doesn't sound like his health is very sound. Not saying Pavano's is....but that's why he's only gettign $1.5M, lol

Re: Pedro Martinez
If he's healthy, Pedro would be a good fit for the Pirates. They need someone in that rotation that has some experience. Don't want to hurt the young guys by having them throw a ton of innings and get lit up (see the Tigers' Bonderman and Robertson as examples of this). Even at $7M, he'd be a nice grab by them. They tried for Byrd but he shot them down.
