The Associated Press reports Cleveland Indians DH Travis Hafner (shoulder) will begin a hitting program next week in Arizona. He has not swung a bat since the final day of the 2008 season. He stated that his rehab is on schedule and he hopes to be ready to play in Spring Training games by the end of February.

Re: Hafner Update
Hafner produces at a high level, we win the division with even an adequate starting rotation this season. If Hafner struggles, the Indians will have to have their rotation come up HUGE again to make noise.

Re: Hafner Update
On Smoke Signals Terry Pluto said he would be VERY surprised if Hafner would get 500 AB's this season. He thought they would go slow with him as he builds strength. That's about 4-5 games a week. (Less if he struggles).

Re: Hafner Update
Hafner has only played more than 140 twice in his career.....so even if he only has 450 at-bats he'll be a nice addition, provided he can at lest produce like he did in 2007......which I have faith he can (maybe too much though)....
